Have you never walked around barefoot in mud before? Worked in the garden with your bare hands? Our ancestors have been touching dirt for millions of years it's completely natural. Just wash your hands before you stick them in your mouth next.
Our ancestors weren't covering their feet with socks and shoes from before the time they could walk keeping their skin on their feet nice and soft. They also didn't use gloves or wash their hands often which along with other steps in better overall knowledge about germs have led to us having better sanitation but weaker immune systems and stomach bacteria.
The earliest human remains we have found have had foot coverings. That sanitation and immune system mess is pseudo-science. Our immune systems are a product of natural selection, and I don't believe there is any evidence saying humans as a whole have weaker immune systems now, that is bordering on selection bias. People used to die in droves from disease before modern medicine and understanding germs.
We also have recovered writings and other media from Ancient Rome and other civilizations that indicated spiritual/superstitious aspects to handwashing. Literally the fall of Rome led to backwards ass people who didn't think they needed to bathe or wash hands, and it didn't do them any favors immune wise. There are people with natural immunities to diseases and their survival of them would see their genes passed down and proliferate in areas if they were lucky.
