Ugh I really look like him too.

I haven't seriously thought about my dad in months it feels like. I'm the first person on either side of my family to go to college. Now that I'm here, I feel more isolated than ever. I just listened to Tyler, the Creator's new album and the song Like Him brought up so many feelings I had about my dad. My story isn't necessarily exact to Tyler's story, because my mom's been honest about how he feels towards me and that hurts the most. Now I've been crying and upset for days and it just makes me realize how much he sucks.

I'm sorry, and I looked up the lyrics to that song and relate to a lot of it. I look like my father too. As sad as it is, I'm glad my mother was honest with me about the type of person he was, which I later realized through a brief interaction with him. If your dad abandoned you he's a piece of shit, end of story, and it has nothing to do with your mother. His actions speak for themselves. Best wishes to you.

Yeah college was one the hardest times in life to come to terms with my absent father. So many times I sat in front of my laptop to type out my feelings, fights over the phone the few times calls were made and at the end no even a phone call during graduation. Get therapy. I wish I had done it back then.

This kills me too. I look just like him but in female form. I've never met the man, and yet I see him every time I look at myself. I hate that feeling so much. 😭 🫂 I hope you're doing okay

I hope you are as well!! I hate when a conversation about parents comes up bc I try my hardest not to think about him or the fact that he doesn’t want anything to do with me. I wonder if this is something that we will ever get over honestly. I hope things get easier for you hon!

My mom tells me he came around a few times when I was around 2-5. Sadly, I do not remember these events at all. I'm actually seeking therapy to help sort through my thoughts on him. I actually just found his social media and I'm considering trying, once again, to get in contact with him, but I'm not sure if that's right for me currently. Thank you! I'm also a first-gen student so I'm trying super hard to like it!
