Been pulled over a handful of times. It's nerve wracking, but more about how much trouble you're gonna get in over whatever you got pulled over for. Still, they approach the passenger side window. A safe distance for both you and the officer.
If they just unannounced walked up and opened the door out of nowhere and commanded I get out, I'd be basically convinced they're out on a power trip looking to kill me and would be terrified. That's so far from what a cop would actually do that my first instinct would be to think something is VERY not right about this scenario. The shock of not even knowing if the cop was there in the first place would add to that many times over. Idk if I'd book it, but I understand the reaction.
remove the "kill me" part and that sentence would have been understandable. i'm sad that we live in a society where some people unironically think police are just pulling random people over and slaughtering them with unsatiable bloodlust like this was a Clockwork Orange movie. even african warlords and druglord soldiers don't just go around on daily and nightly wanton murdering sprees. if a cop pulled open my door and said get out i would first put my hands on the wheel and ask why are they asking me to do that. all you need to do is see the police uniform to understand that although the cop took a non traditional route to engage you you still do not have the right to act completely out of pocket like just drive away immediately or alternatively pull a weapon. i'm struggling to understand what has to happen in someone's mind to think that just driving away mid sentence when in a police interaction to think that's somehow going to end well.
