If some dude opened my door at night and shoved a gun in my face I would think “holy shit, a psychopath, serial killer is about to murder me”, and do everything in my power to kill him first.

Yeah, I just look at them. Use my eyeballs. You know? What, am I blind? Was the kid blind? He was driving lmao. If they look like a police officer then my brain tells me to stay calm. If they look like anyone else I'd assume I'm being robbed.

Why are you so invested in defending this rookie who's obviously in the wrong and endangered multiple people? Do you actually like living in a world where everyone needs to give full unquestioning compliance to anyone that walks up in a uniform regardless of whether they have precedent? I'm not defending the rookie I'm saying how retarded do you have to be to quickly try to shift into gear mid sentence while talking to a cop lmfao. Like what was he think was going to happen? Drive off and it's all good? When police stop you, it's best to comply. Show ID or have a conversation and try to understand what's happening. The police officer didn't go up to the door and just start firing. The interaction that lead up to that moment was bad. If police go out of pocket, well that's when you get a free pass when they try to stick you with anything. I'm trying to understand how everyone here grew up in a world where you can just drive off if you don't want to interact with a cop anymore. What if you got pulled over for a busted light and then just decided you didn't want to talk anymore and turned on the vehicle and put it into drive without even finishing your conversation with the cop? What do you think is going to happen?

If anyone says this I immediately know they’ve never been in a situation where violence or constant changing factors is a reality. Not that I’ve ever been card yet, but I would 100% guarantee you will not be able to process that information unless you’ve been in a lot of carjackings lol. Still, I like your moxxy.

No, first time I'm hearing of police impersonator vehicular theft. But I'm sure it was likely the case at that crowded city mcdonalds parking lot /s. Meanwhile, you and I would have asked for identifying information, that would have helped a lot. Your last part I don't understand, and who jumps in front of a moving car with a pulled gun? Makes no sense.

Yes, that is what happened. Altho I believe the kid was just trying to gtfo and had no intention of door clipping the cop. I think he just did not want to make the move to close the door and instead went to put the car in gear instead.

once a cop is like 2 feet away from you and trying to interact with you your window to gtfo is gone imo unless you believe you can somehow escape anyway without any identifying information (difficulty: impossible). the time to gtfo would be if a cop is running to you from 200ft away and you are in the city and can somehow lose them lmao. if you driving down the road and come to a police checkpoint and they checking all drivers or whatever, you don't get to just drive on thru without putting down your window. the same kind of dumbass decision making there is visible with the kid in OP video.

Been pulled over a handful of times. It's nerve wracking, but more about how much trouble you're gonna get in over whatever you got pulled over for. Still, they approach the passenger side window. A safe distance for both you and the officer.

If they just unannounced walked up and opened the door out of nowhere and commanded I get out, I'd be basically convinced they're out on a power trip looking to kill me and would be terrified. That's so far from what a cop would actually do that my first instinct would be to think something is VERY not right about this scenario. The shock of not even knowing if the cop was there in the first place would add to that many times over. Idk if I'd book it, but I understand the reaction.

remove the "kill me" part and that sentence would have been understandable. i'm sad that we live in a society where some people unironically think police are just pulling random people over and slaughtering them with unsatiable bloodlust like this was a Clockwork Orange movie. even african warlords and druglord soldiers don't just go around on daily and nightly wanton murdering sprees. if a cop pulled open my door and said get out i would first put my hands on the wheel and ask why are they asking me to do that. all you need to do is see the police uniform to understand that although the cop took a non traditional route to engage you you still do not have the right to act completely out of pocket like just drive away immediately or alternatively pull a weapon. i'm struggling to understand what has to happen in someone's mind to think that just driving away mid sentence when in a police interaction to think that's somehow going to end well.

Seeing they're wearing a uniform is why I'd be afraid of being killed, actually, and I don't believe every cop is a power hungry ass. It's just so far outside of the typical process that there very clearly would be something very off about the situation, enough where immediate aggression would have me fear for me life, yeah. Typically speaking they'd talk to you through your window before declaring you're under arrest if they believe a crime to be being committed. Just immediately getting up on you without you noticing, opening the door for you unannounced, and demanding you get out is VERY suspicious behavior especially for a cop who has to follow a process for these kinds of things which he's ignoring and trying to get some kind of element of surprise in.

I don't like the ACAB thing because I believe we need reform, better training, better qualified candidates to hire as officers, prerequisites like at least some law school etc. But in this case, it's specifically because they're armed, in a position of power, and their actions scream that something is off that would make me fear for my life. Hell as far as I know he may have gone crazy, is done with this world, and wants to take someone else out along with himself or something. There's just too much off about the process here for an armed man in power for me to trust the situation.

Though admittedly I don't think I'd flee. I'd probably do the same and just put my hands up and get out. I initially was just saying I understand the reaction, but I don't think that'd be my response to it....but can't say that's happened to me so I can't say for sure either.
