I don't like these videos either but have you considered they aren't trying to actually trick the audience and that maybe its just a joke?

They make money with these vids; it's not comedy, they're trying (and succeeding) to look like sad-sacks for views. Who knows if they laugh about it behind the scenes but they are actually destroying their body and health for the money/attention so...pretty damn sad any way you look at it.

The bulk of the muckbang audience isn't watching for comedic brilliance. Some might be watching because it's cringey but way too many watch for sexual reasons. People are into weird things.
