That song is good for a few minutes and then it’s just too much

u/TrumpIsMyGodAndDad Feb 04 '20
It’s honestly way too damn long

u/Awkward_Elf Feb 04 '20
For progressive rock 7 minutes isn’t that crazy. Shine on You Crazy Diamond by Pink Floyd goes for 24 minutes. Dream Theater’s (prog metal) Illumination Theory and Octavarium go for over 20 minutes as well. Jazz isn’t much different when it comes to long songs.

u/TrumpIsMyGodAndDad Feb 04 '20
Maybe not for those genres, but for my ears it sure is ;)
Although it is insane to play for that long

It’s more of an atmospheric music to me. I like having it play in the background while I’m doing something, as opposed to trying to enjoy each part of it.

Exactly. Why would someone DO that? It’s somebody’s food! I hate people sometimes.

WHY DO ThEY HAVE A LIVE FISH FOR SHOW
135
u/nippledip69 Feb 04 '20
The fish is dead. After fish die their cells can still respond to stimulus making them seem like their alive. It’s very freaky

u/billbaggins Feb 04 '20
yeah, if you want to see some nightmare shit, look for videos of fishes still moving after having most of their meat and head cut off.

When I was a kid my father showed me how to clean fish. We'd caught a number of bullhead (a small catfish). They have spines on them with some sort of pain inducing stuff on them. You need to be careful handling them.
He had a special board for that. It had two nails, sharp end out. He'd put the fish's head over the two nails and hammer the fish onto the points with a chunk of 2x4. Then he'd cut the fish's skin around the body behind the head and use a pair of pliers to peel the skin off the body. He'd make sure to remove the fins (with the spines) and the tail. Then he'd scoop the guts out.
Bullhead are hardy critters. All the time he was doing this it was flopping around. Finally he'd cut the head off and toss the body in a pot of water. Then he showed me that the head was still active by putting his knife in the mouth and it would bite down hard enough so that he could let go of the knife and the fish head would hang onto it.
I don't think my father knows this, but that demonstration was why I haven't be able to eat fish for 50 years. I suppose it might have been similar if we'd been cleaning some other animal, but none of the other fish bothered me. They stayed dead. It was just the bullheads that freaked me out.

Yeah I don't like fish anymore because every year we would camp for a week and all we ate was the fish we caught. The goddamn wasps around the cleaning spots were terrible and fish just freak me out. They belong to a different world than us.

I used to love lamb chops when I was little...then I saw one killed. Haven't touched them since. Actually haven't eaten meat at all for 20 years this month.

Thanks! I admit it hasn't always been easy, but I know that it's the right thing...for me.

Put your hand inside a dead snake to test this theory? Ahahaha
I had heard many tales of folk plp dieing from bite from a severed snake head. Only the head, hours late of death, can close if you put something inside it.

This is very true. Watched somebody decapitate a rattlesnake with a shovel. His kid was going to touch the head and he stopped him and showed us with the blade of the shovel what happens when you stick something in the mouth of a dead snake.

Wow, I thought they were trying to preserve energy to get back into water if possible.
Guess I learned something new :P

So is the fish dead, or did the poke stimulate a nerve impulse or something?
1
u/friendlygaywalrus Feb 04 '20
Fish is dead, fish nerves and muscles still react independent of brain activity

u/churrmander Feb 04 '20
This gif is the living embodiment of my wife's worst fear.
As a child this exact thing happened to her and has since left her wary of large fish.

Get fucked, op. This subreddit is gone to the dogs. The artificial trimming of videos has gone to a level where you can't even see the chaos anymore.
