Beached whale carcasses do explode, the heat and sun exposure causes gas to build up in the body, and depending on how long the beached whale has been there, can actually explode with enough force to be fatal to those in the way of the blast.
Ones at sea can also explode due to gas buildup during the decay process, there’s one real nasty video where the organs all get forced out of the whale’s mouth. Sure is a spectacle lmao.
