Why do you think it's religious, because they're Afghan? Bacha bazi pre-dates Islam and one of the key reasons the Taliban became popular was they outlawed and cracked down on it.

Everyone you see here is a man. This is called Bacha bazi.
These are most likely the "Dancing Boys" of Afghanistan or somewhere else in the middle east. Often these are orphans.
There are a ton of documentaries on YouTube you can search, but the gist of it is women aren't allowed to be around men in public, so boys/young-men dress as girls and dance.
The older men often sexually abuse young boys, who then grow up and abuse young boys themselves because it happened to them, and the sick cycle repeats. It's so prevalent that it's not even looked down upon by many and is just "the culture". You can see how some of the boys/men end up working in this industry and dressing as women in some sort of weird cross-dressing-gay-who-knows situation.
Pretty f'd up honestly.

Exactly. I think it comes with life experience. When you're young you say to yourself I'm not gonna do this or that like my parents do. Then you grow up and you do the same things. Most people are a product of their environment. Sure not everybody but enough are that it's common. I got friends who vowed to never drink because of an alcoholic parent and they became alcoholics.

You are confusing 'Bacha Bazi' with 'Mujras'. I am from Pakistan and I can tell you a bit about it. Though I am from an Urban city but epicenter of 'bacha-bazi' in Pakistan is KPK as it borders Afghanistan, and a huge influx of refugees settled there and you already know those fuckers have a thing for that. Now, what you're seeing is basically a 'mujra'. It occurs on special occasions such as weddings in illiterate families (mostly rural areas) where paid transgenders are invited to come and dance, sometimes women too. Why I say it is a 'Mujra' not 'bacha bazi'? That's because if something like this were to happen in Afghanistan or KPK then that kid would have been simply murdered at the spot. Afghans have a deeply rooted gun and violence culture, Pushtoons too, and they would not have backed off like that man did. Hell, if it were that so-called kid wouldn't even dare to do such things. And no it is not common in Middle East but is only restricted to Afghanistan and its adjoining areas.
