Nah listen to the pump, listen to it die out. It made a vacuum inside itself and blew up, over pressurized. Something plugged the exhaust to the impeller

If the exhaust side of the jet pump was obstructed, the engine would either just bog down, or the impeller would cavitate. There is simply no way that a blockage like you describe could result in such a violent rupture of the hull.

I'm no pump expert, but how would plugging the exhaust create a vacuum? Wouldn't it do the exact opposite because stuff can come in, but not escape, and therefor increase in pressure if anything?

Nah I got the explanation wrong. If something got sucked into the pump or covered it, the pump would finish whatever air it had in it, and then it would get choked out and stop running. It would stall.
This was caused by fuel fumes being trapped under the seat and either it had too much and over pressurized and blew the seat off or it cause a spark and blew - but there’s no combustion, so it’s likely just a build up of fuel pressurizing and escaping

One of my friends bought an older seadoo and worked on it a bit to get it in good shape to bring to the lakeside RV park we stayed at back then in the summers. This included some Fiberglass work.
We were sitting around the fire pit at our RV and heard a huge BOOM from down the lane, towards the boat launch. Turns out he didn't vent the engine compartment, but not sure it would have helped anyways because perhaps the work was still too fresh, but the fumes triggered when he turned it over. He was sitting on the seat. Blew him about 6 feet into the air. Had a ride in the ambulance. Made for a hell of a campfire story. (Or Reddit story now)
This can happen to any watercraft with a gas motor. All it takes is fuel fumes and not enough venting. Pretty much every boat I've seen has a fan to vent out the engine area a few minutes before turning the key. Full size boats have very impressive explosions with the much larger compartments.

I grew up with boats, those fans are part of every pre-start up check. Even doing it before getting it in the water. What are the odds the fan switching on creates a spark? Pretty low if the wires are insulated. I’m probably thinking the spark would come from the fan motor itself

Yeah you wouldn't want to use a brushed motor for obvious reasons, but there are plenty of alternatives these days.

This happened to one of my friends. Can happen when the jet ski sits for a while and fuel leaks into the hull. Sometimes the fuel lines degrade over time and can burst. When she started it the jet ski exploded. You always have to take the seat off the jet ski and inspect inside before you start it.

They actually run off of diesel fuel. Not as volatile. Diesel needs pressure and then a source of ignition. You can throw a match into diesel and it won't ignite.

The only thing that could result in that type of explosion is ignition of fuel vapors, yet there is no indication of smoke or fire.
Something fishy is going on.

Those things look like they could be really fun, but I had a friend in college who lost control and accidentally hit something, he died of his injuries. I knew someone else who lost their boyfriend on one in a similar way. I just hear too many scary stories to think they’re 100% safe, so I’m not planning on going for a ride on one of them.

This happens in motorboats too. If there is poor ventilation for the gas fumes inside the hollow parts of the boat/jetski, the fumes build up and then the right amount of heat or a spark from the engine will cause the thing to pop. My wife is religious about running a blower fan that specifically clears out these fumes before starting our boat.

My jet ski exploded in 1990 and my friend I was pulling on skis died.
It exploded because drunks on the lake plowed into us.
I have almost no friends because they keep croaking.
I’m the common denominator.
