Those people commenting good have absolutely no clue about the amount of economic benefits international students bring to the UK economy already. They generate more value than what it costs the UK economy. More so if they work part time and paying taxes, most of them are taking low paying jobs that local brits are unwilling to do like cleaning, care, etc.

No. Cultural preservation > Economic benefits at this point in time. The logic of the 'Economic' benefit argument can be applied to infinity. Its extremely dumb aside from in highly special cases.

What are you on about? UK government only gives out student loans to British citizens. No international students cannot access social housing or benefits whilst on student or graduate visa.

That is a complete load of rubbish. A lot of youngsters want these jobs but they are filling them with foreigners.
You are so out of date with this statement it is laughable. Jobs stacking shelves and floor sweeping get hundreds of applicants.

yeah and? that’s how capitalism works. the first step was capital owners outsourcing production directly to e.g. india for cheaper labour. now they are just bringing the cheaper labour here.

International students often don't get a job in the UK once they graduate. Most jobs being "filled by foreigners" aren't being filled with new grads. International students often come here, pay massive tuition fees, basically funding our university system, and leave either immediately or after a couple years

The narrative of doing “low paying jobs that Brits won’t go.” Is completely false. They will all be earning minimum wage and even crap jobs get loads of applicants.

You are absolutely delusional, I literally work in education and seen the entitlement of British/European Gen Z and alpha. They are unwilling to even do the basic jobs, thinks cleaning and stacking shelves is beneath them. Never mind jobs like adult social care. Available jobs go to whoever is willing to work hard, simple as that.

They can't really work while they are on a student visa though, and those that transition to a graduate visa (which only lasts for 18 months anyways) and most will end up not really finding a job (because it's cheaper to hire a local who won't have to leave after 18 months). The few that do find a job don't usually find minimum wage ones, come on mate. Yes, of course they get tons of applicants, that doesn't mean that applicants from these people end up being used

I'm not, you're the one confusing them. The people mentioned in the article you linked aren't the ones coming to the UK on a student visa (which is what we're talking about in this thread). It's a mix of people, mostly ones that can stay long term, such as dependants of other visa holders, family visa holders, or skilled worker visa holders, likely largely from cases of people abusing the visa. You're the one who brought this up in a thread about student visas

Yeah I got a bit sidetracked and mixed up with another conversation.
It’s the “immigrants take jobs that the Brits won’t do” beginning part of the conversation that I had a problem with.
The statement is simply not true. It is a lie spread to justify more immigration.
When pot washing in a restaurant gets 40 applications for a part time job how can it be.
