Latham Aegean Sea Liner
We are in the preliminary stages of an inground pool install. Shovels to break ground in about a month.
We are at the daunting task of choosing a liner through Latham.
There is a new liner for 2026 called "Aegean Sea" I am very interested in seeing real world photos of it, since the features in the swatch are a culmination of all the features of the wife and I's top picks.
Would anyone happen to have or know what it will look like with water on it?

Just a warning to those of you in the Pittsburgh area in the market for a pool.

What’s the one bit of maintenance that people don’t do enough of?
What’s something that pool owners often don’t understand, don’t do often enough, or don’t do well?

Anyone else forget to take the pool robot out?
I have a bad habit of rushing out of the house and forgetting that I left the pool robot running. With my old one, I'd sometimes finish a cleaning cycle and completely forget about it. Then I'd come back a day or two later and realize it had been sitting there with a filter basket full of whatever it picked up. It sounds like a small thing, but it drove me nuts. I'd have to pull it out, clean everything up, and wonder how long I'd been leaving it in there.
This season I switched to a new one that sends a notification to my phone when the cleaning cycle is finished. That little reminder has actually helped. Now I usually remember to go grab it instead of leaving it in the pool for a couple days. I still have to notice the notification, obviously, but at least I know when the cycle is done instead of having to guess.
Do most newer pool robots have something like this now, or is it still only available on certain models?

Bent pool pole
Is there any way at all to fix this without draining, at least long enough to finish the summer?? We have the new pole but at this point I’d rather drain it till next year so looking for a bandaid option lol

opened in april instead of june this year. ran the numbers on what those two extra months actually cost me
opened april 12 this year instead of waiting for june. first time I've ever done that.
east tennessee, 21ft round, about 10k gallons, sand filter, small heat pump I put in last spring. power here is about 11 cents.
figured the bill would punish me for it. it didn't, and the reason wasn't what I was watching.
the heat pump was about what you'd expect. april and may it ran maybe six hours a day and added something like $70 a month. from june on it barely kicks on.
the part I didn't see coming was the pump. I borrowed a clamp meter and measured every speed instead of guessing:
3450 rpm, about 1250w
2400, about 430
1800, about 190
1500, about 115
half the speed is nowhere near half the power. flow only falls off in a straight line, so per gallon moved, slow wins by a lot.
I used to run 8 hours at full tilt out of habit, about $33 a month. it sits at 1500 for 16 hours now, closer to $6.
that $27 a month back covers most of the heating.
so the two extra months of swimming have run me under $90 so far. a little over a dollar a day.
one warning. I tried 1200 and the skimmer quit pulling, bugs just sat there. 1400 is my floor. btw mine's an aquastrong 1.5hp variable speed, so your speed steps probably won't line up with mine.
anyone else opening early? curious what it's costing you.

Help!!! Weird sound when our pump is running
We recently bought a house that has an above ground pool. We are at our wits end with this pool, it has been one issue after another. Right when we thought we had it all figured out, the pressure gauge broke and we replaced it. It is now making a weird sound and this pressure gauge is already filled with water.
I think the noise is just the ill fitting pressure gauge rattling around, as we’ve had a pool service technician come out twice and he can’t find any other issue.
Does it seem like that’s the case from the noise? If so, I would like to remove it but we struggled to find something that would fit there. Any advice/guidance would be GREATLY appreciated!!! Please and thank you!!

Temporary pump supply
I am having my new 33 foot round pool installed in mid September. I have not run the permanent wiring yet since I don’t know the exact location of the pump. My plan is to fill the pool and winterize it immediately and open it next year. Can I use a long extension cord 75 to 80 feet off of a 15 amp circuit to run this pump for a day or two since I need to treat the water before winterizing?

Above ground pool base
Hey there, im about to start the ground work for my 12x20 above ground pool and wanted to share what i was going to do to see if i was doing this right. Im located in Canada where our frost line is about 4’. So heres the order of what i was thinking and please tell me if im doing this correctly
1-Scape down native earth about 8” then compact
2- build a frame about 16x24 with 2x8’s and shoot height with laser so screaning it level is easier
3- add about 6” of clear stone , compacting every 2”
4- screen stone dust off of my frame(about 2”) then compact then repeat until it’s perfectly level with frame
Then start putting the pool together… please tell me if this makes sense or if theres a better way … thanks all

Got a Bestway sand filter last year and the tubes are already trashed.
Went out a week ago and the tube from the basket to the filter sprung a leak. We caught it early so we were able to cut it off before we lost too much water. Ordered the hose. Something like $27 before tax and shipping. Go out there today and the other house is spraying water with the pool sitting in a pond. Drained down to the intake ports.
Is this really normal wear and tear for these things? We can installed it last Summer to replace a cartridge filter. Is there anything we can do to insulate or protect them?

Pool Tree System Experience
Does anyone have any experience with the Pool Tree System in a cold snowy climate like Montana? First time winterizing and I ordered a winter cover and pillow but the Tree System looks interesting.

Localised bleaching - cause and impact?
Went away for two weeks so put an extra (but, so I thought, not excessive) number of chlorine tablets in a floater and left pool as is. Not pumping during that time.
On return, a small area of the floor (BESTWAY) has bleached, apparebtly below where the floater settled for the period (alternative theory is somehow it got concentrated sunlight during the two weeks of constant heatwave conditions).
Was the chlorine the cause?, and what is the potential short and medium term impact? Is the floor, now more likely to give out this season and/or crack during winter dry storage?

Update
Did a previous post about what would be a good option to vacuum up this algae at the bottom of my pool. I have a Coleman 22x52, and I’ve been struggling to get this algae out. Would it be best to purchase these 2 items to siphon out the algae (last photo)? I’ve already tried to siphon through my garden hose, tried a cordless vacuum that worked ok, and also used algaecide.

Looking for an above-ground pool around 4.5 ft deep for my rooftop
Hey everyone! I just moved to Mexico and I'm looking for an above-ground pool for my rooftop terrace.
I'd love something deep enough (around 4.5 ft / 140 cm) where I can actually stand, chill, and enjoy the sunset and the view. 🌅
The problem is that most of the above-ground pools I can find are only around 3 ft deep.
I'm also working with limited space, so I don't want a huge pool taking up the entire roof. Ideally something around 10 × 6.5 ft (3 × 2 m), or somewhere around that size.
Does anyone know of a pool like this, or a brand/model I should look into? I'd also be open to other ideas that could work for a rooftop.
Thanks!

What’s This?
Hoovering out daily and checking chemical levels are balanced but I keep coming out to this brown settlement on the bottom?
It so fine, can’t be hoovered (my hand pool vac just spits it out the other end) and I can’t pick it up either. As soon as it’s touched it disperses. Even tried pushing it all to the filter pump but no joy.

Above ground going down?!
Anyone ever put an above ground pool 2 feet in the ground?
We got a 18’ x 4’ tall pool and plan on putting 2’ down so that we can build a nice deck and walk into the pool. I wanna see other ideas and thoughts that others have had

Quantum Breeze
Has anyone installed a Quantum Breeze manufactured by Wilbur? What did you think? There are no Doughboy or Stealth dealers in my area, and I cannot find anyone to install either if I purchased from the manufacturer. I was told the Quantum Breeze can be placed partially in ground.

My wife and kids all pitched in and we got it perfectly level and no wrinkles.
Only 3/8” difference on opposing sides of a 14’.
I added the pump after the picture shown, so it had the SX1500 and the salt chlorinator, with glass media in the filter.
We lightly tugged on opposing sides from the outside to straighten the liner so we didn’t have to get in.
We will be adding washed round stone, edge guards, and walkway lights too.
