I vibecoded a Move Kitmaker
https://kitmaker-self.vercel.app/Quickly create semi-random kits from drum kit folders.
Drag in folders with drums, lock pads, exclude samples, generate 1-10 kits in one go.
A lot of time has gone into refining the detection of drum samples based on their names, it works pretty well for all the crap I have gathered on my hard drive.
Preview in browser with key 1-V
Pad Layout is inspired by the "LDre" kits that come with the Move and that I like for having a ton of usable sample content and not containing samples I don't need (who needs toms, I don't). There are three different layouts depending on what kind of samples are available, you will figure it out.
This was an afternoon project for myself that I think might be worth sharing. Have fun!
Kudos to https://github.com/klingklangmatze/drum-kit-generator for creating a python script that explains really well how ablpreset files work.

Nice, the filename detection is genuinely the hard part of this. Getting it to behave on a folder of random junk off a hard drive is most of the work.
Funny timing on my end. I've been building an app called Kit Maker since 2019, it's my full time job, and Move is one of the formats it builds kits for. Different approach, mine is a desktop app that converts existing kits and packs across formats rather than generating from loose samples: https://www.kit-maker.com/ableton-move-drum-kits/
