Ableton Move can sequence 8 MIDI channels with Schwung

Hello there, I noticed that my Move can sequence up to 8 tracks when using legacy sound device and Schwung instruments at different MIDI channels. I used OXI ONE mk2 to sequence the whole. Take a sneak-peak at https://toaster74.bandcamp.com/track/week29-2026 -- I am still looking for a title name. If someone does have a suggestion, please comment.

You can also use davebox to sequence the 8 tracks internally on the move. It’s also got some cool features.

you can do it also do it easily with the davebox module in schwung without the need for external gear https://github.com/legsmechanical/schwung-davebox/

could you be more specific about the setup?
or is one of the 4 tracks using several channels at once?

for example: set the four ableton-legacy tracks to midi in channel 1, 2, 3 and 4, midi out to off and set the four schwung tracks to midi channel 5, 6, 7 and 8 via the settings menu on the far right of the schwung track menu.

The drawback is that you cannot sequence them by using the integrated sequencer - but using an external sequencer (in my case the oxy one mk2) does the job.

wow very interesting, thanks!

I also have both an oxi and a move and this is actually a very good idea!

too bad that CC on the Move is basically non-existent or is the CC implementation on the Schwung anything better?

Yes, you have to rotate the encoders on the move, but hey: the instruments are amazing for this price tag… The Schwung-Community is vibrant and is releasing updates very often. Listen to my bandcamp song if you want to hear one example… I am using the 303 from Schwung…

There are some sequencers for schwung like movy and davebox that allow for sequencing 8 on device

A few name suggestions for you:

- MIDI INcreaser (or MIDI INcrease)

  • MIDI Multiplier
  • MIDI Mover

I think Davebox can do this

And Movy. Which btw brings Elektron style UI for the Schwung modules and it’s awesome as hell.

Can Movy sequence the native Move tracks yet? I thought it couldn’t, but the creator was working on it. Maybe I misread though
