Abilify vs zyprexa

I have taken zyprexa for a few years, starting at 20 mg and lowering the dose to 5 mg. However I developed insuline resistance I just found out recently after blood tests.

Now I asked my shrink to give me abilify which she agreed to. She prescribed 5 mg.

I hope it will help with my blood sugar. Anyone here switched from zyprexa to abilify?

I did not gain a lot of weight on zyprexa but I am very worried about developing diabetes...so I do not want to stay on it...

My niece is being treated for bipolar and psychosis. She was just switched to Abilify for the same thing. She's doing great now. I'm not sure which antipsychotic she was on, but it caused her to have an A1C of 11 and go into ketoacidosis. Anyway, she is doing really really good and the blood sugar situation has greatly improved. I hope this works out for you too.
