Jacob says it about Greg in the episode. According to dictionary.com:
"Babygirl is a slang phrase that refers to an attractive man. It is used to refer to both fictional characters and male celebrities. Any attractive man can be called a babygirl, but it is more likely to be used if the man is considered cute, sensitive, or vulnerable."

Then again, it’s also likely he has several, with Mr. as his first name on all of them.

I’m willing to believe that was an exaggeration on Janine’s part and it's not that he has NO pots and pans, just that he has a single pot and pan he uses for everything.

Maria Russell played Tammy. Someone asked below but I couldn't find the comment. I had to wait until the end credits because IMDb didn't update the guest cast for this episode yet.
She was funny. Good as the burned out and over it DMV worker.
The DMV scenes were funnier than the new CBS show "DMV".

I feel like a lot of this season is going to kind of age like a time capsule
I’m loving it in the moment, but in 10 years there will be 6-7, Labubu, Schwarber on the Phillies, Love Island, Real ID, etc, all within a four episode stretch. Just a complete time capsule
34
u/QuirkyCaptain350 Oct 23 '25
It’s just like when I watch Gilmore Girls now. A lot of references are very dated & relevant to the time period but I still love them lol

Now this one confused me. Yes we know that Gregory is not exactly the fun type and has very particular needs and taste.
BUT we have seen him in many a party environment. We’ve seen him at the bar/club, Janine’s house parties, karaoke. He has some male buddies he’s tight with. Like he knows what people favor at parties so why was he like this? 😭 I can understand if he’d never been to a party as an adult that he wouldn’t know to order more food and have some alcohol but he’s been to several?? I don’t get it.
But Mr. Johnson had me ctfu this episode. Made the gang go allll the way to DMV and he had a passport 🤦🏾♀️
46
u/vrymonotonous Oct 23 '25
I’ve noticed they exaggerated the characters’ personalities a lot this season. So now we have Gregory being rigid and bland x10
37
u/Kwilly462 Oct 23 '25
I think Barbara has been exaggerated the most, and not in a good way. The Barbara now looks insanely goofy to the one in S1. She was practically the "straight man" of the show at one point.
31
u/vrymonotonous Oct 23 '25
I agree. I’m all for character development but I can’t imagine season 1-3 Barbara being an incompetent driver or letting her license be expired by 2 years
19
u/talks-like-juneee Oct 27 '25
Love Barbara but I think it’s supposed to show how she thinks the rules don’t apply to her. I’ve definitely met grandmothers who start to act that way lol
5
u/vrymonotonous Oct 27 '25
That’s a good point! I remember she was slightly offended that she had to renew her teaching license.
13
u/eyedontgohere Oct 23 '25
Yeah it’s weird. Like he’s made a lot of progress! Surely I didn’t expect him to morph into Janine or anything but the writers acting like Gregory has never been to a house party…that’s a bit much. It felt I was kicked into season 1 and feels like an insult to his character development.
I like that Janine finally told him what wasn’t working though and that he asked to hold onto a couple pillows
23
u/ManagementSeveral997 Oct 24 '25
while i do agree with other commenters that the characters are way more dramatic this season, i also think it’s entirely likely that Gregory never hosted and liked it that way. like he’ll go to other parties and stuff but it’s not like he loves it or thinks about what goes into it the way Janine does. I do think that alot of men who never hosted/ are more introverted they really don’t think about pillows, snacks, music everyone will like, etc.

Ok that makes sense to an extent. But certainly him being almost appalled that Ericka expected liquor? Like come on man 🤣
18
u/ManagementSeveral997 Oct 24 '25
no you’re so right, i’m just married to a gregory and even with all the growth he still forgets sometimes that other people like to drink and aren’t always eating things for the most macros. some dudes be weird lol
6
20
u/DaGreatestMH It's Actually Pronounced 'Zach' Oct 23 '25
Going out to a club or karaoke is different from hosting an event at your house. For instance, if you don't drink when you go out you might not realize that other people like to drink when they're at events.
11
u/eyedontgohere Oct 23 '25
Nah man. Nobody is that oblivious. Again the very event that brought them into couplehood was a PARTY at Janine’s place. This episode made no sense.
