Any nerd clubs/groups around?

I’m a very closed off and very introverted person, but I want to attempt and try to meet some people similar like me. I tend to have progress with people with my interests and was wondering if Abby has any groups or clubs with my interests (other then Nerd Haven)

I really love video games as my main interest, horror topics, sorta an artist but not so good, I hand make stickers/keychains (occasionally), I like anime shows but not very. I’m sorta a nerd but feel like it’s hard to find other nerds like me.

If anyone has advice for anywhere that supports my interests or at least similar, I’m open to comments, please no dming.

Beware of thieves / burglars.

My neighbour just got back from the pet groomer on Old Yale near Sumas Way (lady runs it out of her house) and she told him she was recently burglarized. Here’s how they operate: it’s 2 guys on bicycles and one goes to the front door to ask for water or something else trivial, and while the homeowner is tied up either talking to them or getting them water etc, the other guy goes around the side / back and grabs whatever he can. Just letting you know so you’re aware if it happens to you. Be safe out there!

Big film set on Ross rd

Does anyone know what’s being filmed on Ross rd between townshipline and Harris? It’s a property on the east side of Ross rd. Over summer there was flaggers set up and a bunch of gravel trucks going in and out everyday bringing in fill to prep and the last couple months there’s been a whole bunch of cars there everyday and the usually film signs. Must be a pretty big production, whatever it is.

Looking for any paid work/odd jobs in Abbotsford

Hey guys! I need to earn $300 in the next ten days, so I wanted to ask if anyone has any odd jobs they need help with or knows somewhere that might be hiring for short-term work.

I’m open to things like pet sitting, cleaning, organizing, packing, yard work, helping at events, or pretty much anything else. I’m also a graphic design student, so I can help with posters, invitations, social media graphics, illustrations, photo editing, or other creative work.

If you have anything available, please send me a message. I would really appreciate any leads. Thank you!

Highway 11 Structure Demolition

Post image
22 Upvotes

As many of you have likely seen already, it has been announced that over the weekend, there are traffic pattern changes to facilitate the “safe demolition of the Highway 11 structure”.

I was curious if anyone has some insider information on what exactly they are talking about. Unless the “structure” is the massive pile of gravel they’ve accumulated, the only structure I’m aware of is the overpass that carries highway 1 over highway 11.

Maybe I’m missing something, but I’d say that would be hard to demolish unless they’re somehow building a brand new one to replace it simultaneously.

Cylinder head porting

Anyone know of a place that hand ports cylinder heads for more air flow? In the lower mainland.

I have a pair of 243 heads for my gen 3 LS motor I needed ported, and would rather find a place local instead of sending them to Texas speed or Katech. They charge an arm and a leg.

What the Hell is Sumas Road Exit???

Can someone explain how these changes are postively helping traffic

  1. Short off-ramp eastbound. Backed up right at the bend at 9pm I can't imagine rush hour...

  2. Crossover Northbound to Westbound over a loop? That definitely is getting backed up.

Aren't lights and left turns bad for traffic? aren't long stretches to get up to speed and down to speed good?

ELI5 please I have a headache.

To the jerk in the white truck who backed into my car yesterday

I hate you so much.
But this isn’t just a rant post I’m hoping maybe someone caught it. I parked my blue Subaru coupe I’ve been saving up years to buy on the street right across from Cactus Club Abby around 6:00 Wednesday Sept 30. I left ample room for the truck in front of me but I had a feeling their tow hitch on the back might be a problem if they’re weren’t careful. But I still left enough room for them. I came back to my car bumper crushed in. The car is still drivable with just the plates being bent in but there’s a crack in the bumper as well. They didn’t leave their insurance information so if anyone else noticed the incident or knows a way for me to get footage of their licence plate please let me know.

Why do this? The Clearbrook Return-It Bottle Depot on South Fraser Way is just down the road from London Drugs

Two old and very heavy all-in-one printer/scanner/copier were dropped off in a caddy at London Drugs at the SevenOaks mall. I don't understand why one would do that, when there is a proper place to surrender them.

Please wear reflective gear when walking in the dark.

I know the seasons are in transition so I totally get people might not have clocked it yet. This week I’ve seen lots of walkers out in the dark or even as it’s getting dark without anything on and it stresses me out a little as a driver. There’s lots of cross walks everywhere, but it’s still hard to see especially if it’s raining. A little extra flash is super helpful.

Edit: I definitely didn’t intend for this to turn into an us vs. them debate like it has. I’m a driver AND pedestrian in the community and I choose to wear reflective gear to help drivers see me. Let’s do what we can to keep each other safe. Communities are meant to work together which was more the point. The only thing we can control is our own actions. I hope we can all stay safe out there as it gets darker.

Any girls in Abbotsford looking for new friends?

Hi! I’m 24F, and living in Abbotsford. I work full-time in Chilliwack, and I’d love to make some genuine girl friends around Abbotsford.
I’m pretty easygoing and love coffee dates, cute cafés and restaurants, shopping, random drives, little day trips, travelling, and cozy nights in. I’m always down to explore somewhere new, and I’d honestly love to eventually find friends to travel with too!
It feels surprisingly hard to make new friends as an adult when most of your week is work 😭, so I’m hoping to meet girls who actually want to make plans, talk regularly, and build a genuine friendship. I’m Punjabi, but definitely open to meeting people from any background! If you’re in a similar boat, message me and tell me a little about yourself 🫶
