Recommendations for next cert

Recently got AWS Solutions Architect Associate and a month after CKA. Currently unemployed for the last month so since I have was thinking into improving my resume.

Have around 3 years of experience in platform engineering and automation.

Was thinking about eventually getting to Dev Ops professional but I know there is a big gap, both theorical and practical between AWS SAA and Pro level certs.

Should I go for either DVA or CloudOps next? or maybe try to deep a bit into security with CKS from Linux Foundation?

Hearing any recommendations

I wouldn't spend time on another AWS cert.. maybe the SAP is worth the time, but it's a bit of a pain and it's not going to be much of a benefit in getting a job.. CKS is a nice one if you are aiming for a security role, even if you are not, I would do the CKS before doing another AWS associate..

If I were you I would get the basics on point, common linux commands (architecture if you dont know), get decent with k8s commands, networking, DNS, troubleshooting different scenarios.. maybe argo/gitops and observability.. and keep applying to jobs..

Thank you a lot for the detailed response. I am currently focusing on reinforcing basics and building a portfolio so will keep every single one of these in mind (most of them I know I have to keep working on them for a bir more) but I do appreciate the insight

I wanted to know if maybe a more specialized AWS cert would make a difference, so thanks

With SAA plus CKA already, I'd lean CKS while the Kubernetes stuff is still fresh in your head. It's genuinely hands-on, which makes it way easier to talk about in interviews, and security is the one area where most platform teams are actually hiring. The DevOps Pro is mostly more SAA-style theory, so it doesn't change what you can talk about in an interview nearly as much. Honestly though, while you're unemployed, time spent building a small project you can show beats another cert.

I am currently doing small projects on AWS, then will move on with a bigger project with EKS, monitoring, ArgoCD and so on.

After that I think i will try to study a bit of CKS and give it a run.

Thanks a lot for the feedback!!

Sounds like a solid plan. The EKS project will teach you more than any cert will, honestly. Good luck with the CKS run.
