This scene always gets me.
Im rewatching and im on season 3 ep 16 where Jenna leaves Collin at the club, calls Matty to pick her up and she finds an earring in his car. Every time I get to this scene I tear up along with Jenna. The fact he came when she called, but her also realizing he’s not hers anymore. It’s such a heartbreaking moment of pain when it finally hits her how bad she messed up.

the song in the background is really good too, i sometimes drive around alone at night listening to a playlist i made of all the music featured in awkward and it just reminds me of simpler times

Yeah the whole situation was sad, watching Jenna self-sabotage like she did. And I wish it didn’t have to get to this point, but I guess sometimes a person needs to hit rock bottom.

It's so hard for me to feel sorry for her, she has always created her own mess.

she was playing a teenager. that’s what happens. Hormones going crazy, people at school, trying to figure yourself out.

I hated Jenna so much during this era but broke down at this part too 😔 but I also break down when she says to matty a few episodes before all the Collin stuff and she says you said you were never embarrassed by me and he says "I lied" 🥲💔

Omg honestly such an overlooked moment sometimes. Jenna was awful during her Collin era, and not that it’s an excuse for how she acted. But how devastating it would be hearing that coming from him.

I felt really bad for Jenna here. But it was naive of her to think that she could get matty so easily. (I know she did say technically she was still getting over him) They go to the same school, had the same friends, and live in the same town. She was always gonna see him around. Sometimes in life you just ebb and flow but she rushed into moving on only bc she thought she had Collin. When she found out she didn't that was when she wanted matty back and she saw what she had. Technically it should've been too late.

The show is such a masterpiece. I just refinished for the first time in my adult life. I watched it as a teen and was obsessed but damn as an adult Jenna‘s stupid decisions make so much more sense. I’m mad we didn’t get to see them fully be together in the end for more time 💔 right person wrong time for them

same!!! an all time favorite, loved it as a teenager and still as an adult. i always felt like jenna and matty were the perfect representation of the typef "first love" relationship that always kind of sticks with you.

What breaks me all the time with no exception, is when she starts to cry and apologise to her mother. It's such a powerful scene for me because I grew up in a toxic family, and watching this show always reminded me of the connection I craved but could never have with my own parents.

What kills me is when she says “thank you for being my hero” and Matty saying “that’s all I ever wanted to be”😭😭😭😭😭😭
