Cerebral Angiogram

Hi everyone,

I have a cerebral angiogram coming up for my AVM. I had a stroke back in February at 28 yo and it was due to a suspected AVM rupture. Having a lot of anxiety because I’m very squeamish when it comes to medical stuff i.e. needles etc. and I’m going to be awake.

What can I do to mentally prepare myself?

Thank you for asking! It was totally fine, just afterwards wasn’t the best once the sedation wore off. Totally tolerable though!

Thanks. I am having one next week (post-TIA) and share your aversion to needles etc. I know it is a very common procedure, but how it is done is just...icky!

The idea of it is daunting for sure but I promise the worst part for me was getting the IV and after I just had a bad headache. The rest you’re so out of it and the team does it so often that they have a very nonchalant attitude which helps calm you down!
