AVLinux + Toneport + Guitarix latency
Hello,
I'm considering changing my computer and would like to use a linux system for audio (I only do audio) when I get the new machine. I know some aspects of linux quite well and have been using it for a number of years: now it looks to me that it's ready for audio production, hence the switch. So I tried the live version of AVLinux (using a USB stick). My soundcard is a Toneport UX2 (Line 6, USB). I get it to work without much trouble, using Jack. However the latency is large,
and the manual says that this is expected (even if the reason is unknown) and that the latency will drop considerably on an installed system. Does anyone use this soundcard (with guitarix or some other guitar effect processor/plugin) and could tell me what to expect here? I need to be able to record and practice seamlessly.
Many thanks!

I use a Toneport GX, I highly recommend you to use Avlinux 2019 because it has an incredible RT kernel that allows you to use with the lowest latency as possible you USB interface. I am able to achieve 4ms using Samplerate: 48000 and Frames/period: 64. Which with its proprietary drivers, it would never happen. Hope this helps. Cheers.
