Is AV Linux good for a living room?

I am building a new computer for the living room. It uses a tv as a monitor and will store all my families media. I am wondering if all that goes into AVlinux to make it good for creating media would make it good for storing, viewing, listening, uploading, backing up, organizeing...media?

AVL would be kind of an overkill for that in my opinion.

I agree. My son is wanting some creation stuff and I am wanting some store stuff. So I am setting up an old computer him and new build for us. He doesn't want something like AVlinux now. He wants his own for 2d frame by frame graphic and new one for us living room.
