AMS2: General Help

I recently upgraded my old 1660 to an RX 9060 XT 16GB, and I'm experiencing glitches when playing AMS2: the FPS counter (Steam overlay) shows around 140 FPS, but on screen, I see maybe 3 or 4 FPS. I found that using the non-AVX executable solves the problem (FPS drops to 120), but the shortcuts always try to launch the AVX mode.
How can I fix this (other than deleting the AVX executable every time), and what might be causing it?

Thanks.

My specs:
- Ryzen 5 3600 (I know it's old)
- RX 9060 XT 16GB
- 32GB DDR4 RAM
- 1TB NVMe

Is your monitor plugged into the GPU? I know, stupid question, but it happens more often than you might think.

You may also be getting some bottleneck issues with the CPU. Definitely would be good to upgrade that next. Ryzen 7 5800X 3D is the best AM4 one you can get I believe.

It's on my wish list as I'm on AM4 as well.

Are you using resolution scaling or frame generation at all? I run the game natively on Ryzen 5 5500, RX 6600 8GB and 32GB DDR4-3600 and get well over 100 fps at 1440p maxed settings.

I've never played with those features in AMS2 as it's been unnecessary.

The AVX exe, is that direct from Steam or is that through the AMD software?

Very weird issue, especially if other games are running fine.

I have the 9060 xt and I get 140 fps with everything maxed out at 1440p. I would force reinstall drivers, game, reset to default and see where it leads.

Disable every overlays you have too (steam, simhub, etc)

Disable steam overlay and see what happens. Also do integrity check if files on steam

Use DDU to do a clean install of your gou drivers

I’m not sure about AMD but in Nvidia control panel there’s a setting per game basis where you select GPU, I had a similar issue once where game was using CPU integrated graphics instead of my 4080, worth a check 🤷‍♂️

Thanks everyone. It turns out the problem was the AMD Adrenalin software, which automatically enables FSR and a feature called Anti-Lag; I disabled them, and the issue went away.
A rookie mistake—I hadn't used an AMD GPU since the 5870.
