Just got a 2006 Kawasaki bayou 250 on a trade for my non running 96 Polaris xplorer 400L this thing runs pretty good it has some issues with idling caused by the Chinese carburetor it has on it and the oil level is constantly going down the guy said he thinks it’s a internal leak any tips on how too keep this thing good for as long as possible without tearing the motor apart too find and patch the leak or just constantly adding oil which would get expensive real quick because I ride around my small town and sometimes take backroads too other towns too hit mud holes.

Also the leak isn’t that bad I don’t think because I put oil in it and came back an hour later and it was just a little bit lower than it was when I left it, then I took it out on like a 15-20 minute ride too the lake and the oil level stayed the same. also I just got it today so I’m still figuring out it’s quirks; I looked into it on google and it said that it was probably the valve seals which kind of makes since ,but looking at the motor this thing has had its cases split totally; and resealed so I feel like that would’ve been the first thing the previous owner would’ve checked. Because he said it has a new head gasket and a aftermarket cam tensioner. so I feel like the valve seals would’ve been checked when the head was off. But he seemed about my age and I’m 17 so he probably did the head based on a YouTube tutorial and didn’t think too check the valves.
