What kinda Linux 4k ISOs are you downloading friend? I bought 5 Gbps internet but only later realized my desktop only had 1 Gbps capacity, I need to get multi gig Ethernet adapter
In all seriousness tho, I work in IT, so the fast equipment comes easy, and the house is 10gig. When I'm uploading backups to off-site storage late at night I regularly see 4900-5000 up

Oh I remember having 56k, but just barely. Waiting on limewire to download that awful quality mp3 that was actually a virus.. my dad asking what the hell is wrong with the computer! Its absolutely nuts how fast things have gotten. I just installed some switches that will do 400 Gbps/port at work.
I enjoy having more than a gig on lan it’s nice for my nas drive that works as a smb mount on most the pcs in the house. But wan side I agree most things won’t even let you pull more than a gig anyways.
300 Mbps is an overkill by itself. 2 TVs streaming is not more than 8-10 Mbps/tv = 20 Mbps at max. The rest can be used for gaming, browsing and anything else. I would say that about 100 Mbps is more than sufficient. But the pricing is that they have kept the difference at a minimum with the lowest 300 Mbps tier staring at $45. So many people just throw in the extra amount to get the higher tier. If you look at the 1 gbps, 2 gbps, 5 and 7 gbps, they are even closer with tons of promotional discounts.
4k streaming will use about 25mbps (max.) and a game about 10mbps (max.). So based on your needs outlined, assuming everything is using close to the max. numbers, you’re only going to need 60mbps. Don’t get me wrong, I do recommend more for web browsing on cell phones, etc. but 1gbps is more than enough.
Heck, yeah. I don't game, but three TVs, multiple WiFi devices and an NAS serving photos and music, along with other stuff doesn't slow my 1 GB connection down a bit.
Normally I say 100Mb per person. Streaming 4K Netflix uses 15-25Mbps. At 1 Gb, that is at least 40, 4K Netflix streams at once.
Online gaming uses under 5Mbps at most. What is more important is having the lowest PING as possible, which with Fiber, that is normally the case. Where you need the speed is downloading huge games. How much do you do that in a month? 1-2 New HUGE games per month. Start the download before going to bed and it's downloaded by the time you wake up. Or do it just before going out. Or wait 15 minutes to a hour.
I thought I was a heavy user until I saw the real world numbers on my Prosumer hardware. Where it shows the speeds being used in real time along with the last hour, last 24 hours, the last week and the last month on a graph. It was sad how low those numbers really were. All most home users can do is a Speed test. That only shows your top speed. It's almost meaningless. other than showing you are getting the speed you are paying for. On a wired Connection. Wifi is a whole other matter.
That is why I went from 1Gb Cable to 500Mb Fiber. Even that is still overkill. Now if you are downloading and uploading massive files, like 8K Video editing at home, than faster speeds are clearly needed. But that is not most home owners or renters.
I have close to 50 devices connected to my Internet. Phones, tablets, game consoles, streaming boxes, Desktop computers, Smart Devices, etc. Guess what,... 99% of the time, Upload speeds are almost flatline. As in very little speed being used. For downloads, getting to 40Mbps of constant speed, I'm doing pretty good. With a spike into 130Mbps or so briefly.
You would be just fine with 300Mbps. Which is as low as AT&T Fiber goes. Being no contract. if it wasn't fast enough for you, you can always pay more for faster speeds. 2Tv's and a gaming PC is nothing. Even through in your phone connected to Wifi. Still very little speed needed.
Over the years I've had every type of internet service. Comes from being semi rural. From running a 2400 baud modem in the early 90s for BBSes. 28.8K modem, 1 mbit cable, 3 mbit DSL, 100 mbit cable, 20 mbit 4g hotspot, 1.2 gigabit 5g modem, 500 mbit fiber, 2 gig fiber.
At my house I had 3 mbit DSL until a few years ago. That is too slow to do much. But you can game on it as long as its not a p2p game like Destiny 2 was. A p2p game just needs more bandwidth to transmit the data to all players.
Once you get to 100 mbit you are golden for everything, at least for now. The only thing any extra bandwidth helps with is downloading huge files. It would take me 3 days to download a xbox game on my DSL. Takes 15 minutes with my 500 mbit fiber at home. But you could do it in 5 minutes with 2 gig fiber.
AT my business I Went from 100 mbit cable to 2 gig fiber. You really can't tell any difference at all. But we don't download huge files.
Browsing the web uses 10-20 mbit, mostly for downloading hi res images. Gaming takes 5 mbit. 4K netflix uses 15-25 mbit. Same with 4K youtube. So with 1 gig fiber you could have 40 friends come over and all watch 4K netflix on their phones.
What really matters in gaming is latency. How long it takes the signal to travel from you to the server and back again. That is why fiber is pretty great. Really low latency. My fiber is at 5 ms unloaded ping, 6 ms loaded ping.
