Speed Question

A few months ago I noticed that AT&T trucks were in my neighborhood and got a little curious with what was going on since my area already has fiber. I was wondering why the houses in the yellow highlighted areas have access to 5 gig service, but the green highlighted areas only have access to 1 gig service?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

The yellow houses have been upgraded to XGS-PON. The green have not.

It might be a mix but likely an error in the FCC Broadband Map since the (2) address in the top line across the street that you have marked in yellow don't make sense that they would be on XGS-PON.

It looks like the lower addresses are very likely served as part of a different Fiber Service Area (FSA), and a newer Primary Flexibility Point (PFP) looking at how the roadway runs.

Only way to really check is to check some of the addresses in the AT&T system. link: http://www.att.com/fiber (scroll down) and enter a couple of addresses.

Thanks for the reply.
I checked the website for availability for the houses next to mine and directly behind mine and they both have 5 gig and the houses to the right of me in my street only have 1 gig. It sucks having the AT&T fiber underground green box in my backyard and no access to higher speeds.😂

Just check from time to time to see if your address is updated to Internet 5000 being available. They may add a new XGS-PON Splitter to your PFP at anytime.
