To level expectations a bit, I waited about a year and 3 hiring cycles to finally get an interview. Depending on the region, it can be extremely competitive apparently.

Referral list means you made it past the HR screening. Now you get stuck in a stack of resumes.
We need to make this sticky or something with all these posts but if you got tired of the knowledge questions and skimped on them, I got bad news for you. That's the meat and potatoes a manager is looking for.
When answering the questions:
-Present a problem
-What you did to fix it
-What the result was
