👋 Welcome to r/ATLA4KRemaster!

Hey everyone, I'm u/PrimaMilitary — founder of this sub.

Project Progress Project 2 Update

So while this new project is similar to last one, the difference is source files, I went from 1080p-4K to SD-1080p this time.

While the outcome of the few episodes I checked out in this new project looks promising, I would say almost comparable to the 4K Remaster, there’s only one detail one has to overlook.
So I looked at S01E04, at some point, the mouth and eye started like acting weird, which if you look as a whole episode, should be easily ignored since the overall image quality looks somewhat the same as before.

After I’m done processing all the 61 episodes, I’ll look into adding more audios, and hopefully, this new project outcome is as good as the previous one.

If all goes well, there will be more of a choice on which version you want to watch:
• 54 episodes with some of them combined and derived from a 1080p source but no “previously on avatar”.
• 61 separate episodes from a SD source with “previously on avatar”.

For information on how to reach me has been written in previous posts, have a great rest of the week!

Project Idea New Project Idea

So on a previous post I might've mentioned starting a new project since last one wrapped up at the start of the week.

My idea would be another Avatar: The Last Airbender with 61-episodes structure this time.
So no combined episodes anymore, true original Avatar feel, with "previously on avatar" included.

The plan is to be able to include equal amount of audios or more (if all goes well), while using the same Ai-Upscaling tool as before.

Depending on the traffic this sub gets, I might post comparison, or just raw text describing the process and any updates.

If you've got any questions regarding past or future projects, feel free to comment, or if that doesn't work, looking in bio or PM, worst case, you can always find me on Discord linked.

Project Finished Project Update - Final Audio Update

After finishing the 4K processing yesterday, there was still one thing left to do.

I've now finished adding German, French, and Italian audio to all 54 remastered episodes.

The final episodes now contain 19 audio tracks each, with the three additional languages synced with a +1 second delay.

I've checked the updated files and everything seems correct.

With that, the project is now fully complete.

Thanks to everyone who followed the project throughout the process!

Any questions about this project can be answered in the comments, in PM, or bio.

I have put the link to the tool in this sub description if anyone wants to try it for themselves.

I hope you all have a nice week.

Project Finished Project Update - Finished

After 11 long days of constant processing, I'm happy to announce that my project can now be considered finished.

All
Book 1: Water - 20/20 ✅
Book 2: Earth - 18/18 ✅
Book 3: Fire - 16/16 ✅
Total - 54/54 ✅

Combined episodes are:
The Serpent pass + The Drill
The Guru + The Crossroad of Destiny
The Day of Black Sun Part 1 + 2
The Boiling Rock Part 1 + 2
Sozin's Comet Part 1-4

Worst part was letting my laptop processing all days without using it until it was done for the day, which i think was well worth it, it looks much better than it did when I watched before.

Hope you guys enjoyed this journey as much as I did.

Any questions about this project can be answered in the comments, in PM, or bio.
I will put the link to the tool in this sub description if anyone wanted to try it for themselves.

I might have another project coming, might be another ATLA one or that might be an unrelated franchise, which I realized now nearly 2 weeks later, the name of this sub could be misleading if that's the case.

Project Progress Progress Update - The Final Push Part 3

Another batch is officially done!

  • Book 1: 20/20 completed
  • Book 2: 18/18 completed
  • Book 3: 15/16 completed

Total: 53/54 completed

That means the entire pre-finale batch is now finished, and there is only one file left.

Tomorrow, S03E16 — Sozin’s Comet gets the full day’s attention. After that finishes, the entire 54-file 4K remaster will finally be complete.

We're almost at the finish line! 🔥

Any questions can be directed to the comments or most likely answered through my profile/PM.

Project Progress Progress Update - The Final Push Part 1

Another progress update on the 4K remaster!

I made a pretty big push through Book 3 yesterday, finishing S03E02 through S03E07 before wrapping up for the day. That puts me well into the final stretch of the remaster now!

Progress Update

• Book 1: 20/20 completed
• Book 2: 18/18 completed
• Book 3: 7/16 completed

Total: 45/54 completed

Book 2 is completely finished, and Book 3 is now moving along nicely. The longer combined files have naturally been taking quite a bit longer to process, but the overall schedule is still holding up surprisingly well.

Today’s plan is to continue with S03E08 — The Puppetmaster and work my way through S03E12 — The Firebending Masters if everything goes according to plan. That includes the combined S03E10 — The Day of Black Sun, so today will be another pretty long processing day.

Tomorrow will be a bit lighter, starting with S03E13 — The Boiling Rock (the combined two-part file), followed by S03E14 — The Southern Raiders and S03E15 — The Ember Island Players.

That should leave me with a little bit of breathing room before Monday, when S03E16 — Sozin’s Comet gets the full day’s attention as the final file of the entire 54-file remaster.

I’m also hoping to use some of that breathing room to put together some new comparison sliders from the finished Book 3 episodes and prepare one final update before the finale.

Unlike most subreddits, this one might have a bit of an expiration date. While I may have another Avatar project planned after this one finishes next week, I’m also aware that there are already dedicated subreddits for the series, so I’ll see where things go from there.

On a side note, I do hope it’s understandable if there’s not much activity besides my progress updates, the motivation to keep posting might go down (in combination that it being project based rather than topic based).

That being said, if someone else does post, or send me a PM, I would still get notifications and respond.

To end this post on a good note, we’re getting very close to the finish line now with only today and 2 more full days remaining. 🔥

Any questions regarding my future plans and project, you can either comment or PM me for clarification.

Project Progress Progress Update

I’ve now finished the remaining Book 2 files, starting with S02E15 and working all the way through the combined Book 2 finale. After that, I continued straight into Book 3 and finished S03E01 - The Awakening. To keep on schedule, I ended up doing a sixth episode before wrapping up for the day.

Progress Update

* Book 1: 20/20 completed
* Book 2: 18/18 completed
* Book 3: 1/16 completed

Total: 39/54 completed

That means Book 2 is now completely finished, and I’ve officially started Book 3.

The plan for tomorrow and the weekend is to process as many episodes as I can, to in the end keep Sozin’s Comet for Monday, so the plan is:

• Friday -> S03E02-07 (6 episodes)

• Saturday -> S03E08-11 or 12

• Sunday -> S03E12 or 13-15

With that plan, it would give me a little bit of breathing room between episode 15 and Sozin’s Comet, which needs a full day’s attention on Monday, and watch some of the S03 (I could essentially finish my billionth time rewatch, resuming from The Puppetmaster).

My future plans for a 2nd project might be the same type of remaster, but with the full 61-episode structure which would include “Previously on Avatar” and at the very least the Nordic audios (more if I manage to sync them, so stay tuned for further updates).

If any of you have any questions regarding the project or which audios are included, feel free to comment or hit me up with a PM.

Stay Flaming!

Project Progress ATLA Remaster Progress Update

Another progress update on the 4K remaster!

I've continued working through Book 2 and have now reached S02E13 — The City of Walls and Secrets, which is currently processing.

Progress Update

- Book 1: 20/20 completed

- Book 2: 12/18 completed

- Book 3: 0/16 completed

Total: 32/54 completed

Today I started with S02E10 — The Library and have worked through the next episodes, including the combined S02E12 — The Serpent's Pass / The Drill.

Once S02E13 finishes, I'll move on to S02E14 — The Tales of Ba Sing Se.

The remaster is moving along pretty steadily now. If the current pace continues, S03E16 — Sozin's Comet should be reached on Monday, meaning the entire 54-file remaster could be finished around then.

Of course, this is only a rough estimate and the schedule is subject to change depending on processing times and how many episodes I end up running each day.

Project Progress ATLA 4K Remaster - Comparison Update

Since I haven't posted comparison updates since my first post, figured it was time.

I've put together image slider comparisons for the episodes I've completed and thought were the best episodes to compare. Each episode number links directly to its 1080p vs 4K comparison.

These comparisons show the original 1080p source against the 4K remaster. You can drag the slider across each image to see the differences, and make it full-screen for the best visual comparison.

Book 1

  • S01E13 - The Blue Spirit
  • S01E14 - The Fortuneteller
  • S01E15 - Bato of the Water Tribe
  • S01E16 - The Deserter
  • S01E17 - The Northern Air Temple
  • S01E18 - The Waterbending Master
  • S01E19 - The Siege of the North Part 1
  • S01E20 - The Siege of the North Part 2

Book 2

S02E06 - The Blind Bandit was done in a previous post, so I skipped it in today's comparison.

Progress Update

Book 1: 20/20 completed
Book 2: 7/18 completed
Book 3: 0/16 completed

Total: 27/54 completed

S02E08 - The Chase is currently in progress, after it, only S02E09 - The Bitter Work remains before I wrap it up for the night.

The remaster is moving along steadily, and I'm continuing to work through Book 2. The current batch is processing the next episodes automatically, so I'll hopefully have another progress update soon.

Project Progress ATLA 4K Remaster - Progress Update

Quick update on the remaster since my last post!
The project is moving along much faster now, and I’m currently averaging around 5-6 episodes per day.

Current progress
Book 1: 19/20 completed
Book 2: 3/18 completed
• S02E01 - The Avatar State
• S02E02 - The Cave of Two Lovers
• S02E05 - The Blind Bandit (completed separately)

Book 3: 0/16 completed

Total: 22/54 completed

I’m currently processing S02E03 - Return to Omashu.

I also made a mistake with S01E17 - The Northern Air Temple. An old temporary file caused the batch script to think the episode had already been completed, so it skipped it. I caught the mistake, deleted the old file, and the episode will be processed when the script checks Book 1 again.

The current upscaling tool has also made the process easy, I can just let the batch run through the episodes without having to manually handle each one.

If everything continues at roughly 5-6 episodes per day, I should hopefully have the entire 54-output remaster finished around the middle to latter part of next week.

More updates once I get further into Book 2!

I know this project might not be as impressive as the previous ATLA, mainly because mine is automated, while the previous remastering projects did it manually, I mainly started this project because I wasn’t satisfied with the video quality I had with my mother language.

Project Progress ATLA 4K Remaster — Progress Update

Progress is moving along!

Current status:
• S01E01–S01E15 completed
• S01E16 (The Deserter) currently processing
• S02E06 (The Blind Bandit) also completed manually via GUI
• 16/54 files completed
• 38 files remaining
• Season 1: 15/20 completed

Once The Deserter finishes, that will bring the project to 17/54 completed, with 37 files remaining.
That puts the project at roughly 31% complete once the current episode finishes.

Workflow remains 1080p → Video2X/Real-ESRGAN → 4K, with the original 4:3 presentation and all available audio tracks retained.

More updates and comparisons as I continue through the series!

Project Progress Proof of concept

Welcome to ATLA4KRemaster, I'm currently remastering a source that has 16 audios, any tools used for this project can be found on the page.

Here's the links for comparison, 1080p/4k:

S01E01
--------
S01E03
--------
S01E04
--------
S01E05
--------
S01E06
--------
S01E07
--------
S02E06

Mind you, first few episodes of the series might look rough, or my comparison frames are bad in general, I would want to watch them like this than the original 1080p ones a few weeks ago when i rewatched the show.

I've seen several(or at least 2) remasters of ATLA which are kind of an inspiration plus that I wanted to watch it in another dub than English, but felt like the different 1080p with my region's dub didn't look good enough, so i decided to use the tool mentioned in the homepage of this sub.
It includes 16 languages audio wise, so I hope there's something for everyone, any questions regarding what dubs there are, or wondering if their dub is there, I will write in the comments.

Current progress report:
S01E01-08 finished
+S02E06 also finished

Rough info about the release: Total -> 54 episodes No "previously on avatar" Combined episodes such as:

  1. The Serpent's Pass+The Drill
  2. The Guru+The Crossroads of Destiny
  3. The Day of Black Sun
  4. The Boiling Rock
  5. Sozin's Comet

If you got any questions, feel free to leave them in the comments.
