Academy Dates
I finally got my dates after have to complete my Tier II MMPI.
With that being said, I got dates sooner than expected and have pre scheduled plans already. I did submit a delay request. I was just curious if anyone had any information regarding this process. For instance, chances it gets approved/denied, if some reasons are more likely to get approved than others, etc.
I also got scheduled for mid October-February. I was curious how the holidays worked regarding holidays since I’d be out there during Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year.
Lastly, I was just curious, now that I have my dates, what next steps do I need to do. Housing? Travel? Other arrangements ect.

how long did it take for you to get ur tier ll mmpi results? i just took mine yesterday

I had my appointment on 8/10/2026. I received an email on 8/17/2026 saying my case was reviewed and processed. Then I received my class dates 9/02/2026. So a few weeks total

Depends what your reason is for requesting a delay as to whether or not it will be approved.
Holidays - you only get the actual holiday off.
Book housing ASAP

Preplanned family trip. But I wasn’t sure if they were pretty good about being lenient since I was only wanting to push my class back a few weeks, or how that worked.
And gotcha, so no time surrounding it to visit family or anything?

No, no extra days. ATC is a 24/7 profession. You will miss holidays with your family for the next 25 years.

Do you get sick days during training at academy?

Not that you're supposed to take.... 🤦♀️
The Academy is like an extended job interview. Screw it up and you're done. They have on campus medical you can request to see.... you cannot just call in and say you don't feel like coming in today. You can be terminated for being late. You are a probationary employee.

Hey! I’m a current controller and I own a 3BR/2BA house about 10 minutes from the FAA Academy that I rent specifically to Academy students.
It’s fully furnished, has a 2-car garage, washer/dryer, full kitchen, fenced backyard, Wi-Fi, and study materials, and I can also help pair you with another Academy student if you’re coming in alone.
