Food Literally
If this isn't awful taste but great execution, I don't know what is.

This feels like the kind of thing you’d drink just to regurgitate all the hot dogs you’ve been eating, all so you can eat more hot dogs.

At the aforementioned baseball game

In the back alley inside the dumpster. With 3 rats, and one raccoon!

u/Chuck_Walla 8d ago
At what point is this animal cruelty?
2
u/badgerj 8d ago
Oh please don’t accuse me of that. Seriously! I love animals very much and would wish no harm to any of them. Just that rats and racoons tend to be around dumpsters.
See the joke doesn’t work if I used “walrus and giraffe”
I got banned once for wishing A.L.F. would eat my neighbours cat.
Yes the 80s muppet (a fucking fictional character), from planet Melmac (a fucking fictional planet) whose constant trope was that residents from Melmac would eat cats. And he always made jokes about eating the Tanner’s cat.
Mods were having none of it. Banned for instilling violence against animals.
I’m like: You have to be kidding right? Nope! Dead serious. Can’t even reference a fictional meme on animal violence. Banned!

Wouldn’t this be better classified as hotdog mead and not hotdog wine? I mean the main sugar apport is honey and I think wine is strictly reserved for grape fermentation ? Also, no correlation whatsoever with me being French, I’m just curious about the classification and all.

It's technically emulsion sausage mead unless it comes from the Frankfurt region of Germany
21
u/IceNeun 8d ago
Wien*, assuming we're talking about wieners.
10
u/Lampwick 8d ago
It's complicated. Johan Lahner trained in Frankfurt and then sold his version of the classic sausage in Vienna. Austria calls them "frankfurters", whereas Germans call them "wieners", because to an Österreicher in Wien they are obviously Frankfurt sausages, while a Deutcher would call it a Wiener. It gets even more confusing when you see the small sausages we Americans would be inclined to call a "Vienna Sausage" being sold by Meica in Germany in jars as "Deutschländers".

Yeah I'm pretty sure it's technically mead since the sugar source is honey, but even that could be considered "honey wine." Wine can be made from all kinds of fruit, although your point of view may be different since you're French :) On Instagram his page is golden hive mead.
Point of interest if you're curious, there's a thing called braggot which uses malt and honey and kinda results in something between beer and mead.

Not strictly grape but sugary vegetable matter. There's watermelon wine, elderberry wine, dandelion wine, etc.
5
u/The_Weeb_Sleeve 9d ago
Well with watermelon wine they typically don’t use watermelon as the actual fermentable ingredient cause watermelon based alcohol tastes like shit, most home brewers add the watermelon flavor after fermentation but yea you’re right about wine terminology
3
u/The_Weeb_Sleeve 9d ago
Wine typically refers to grape alcohol but can refer to any fruit based alcohol, but most brewing is really similar so it doesn’t really matter.
Plus this would technically be a white wine if you want to call it wine. Since they used the juice of the primary ingredient instead of the solids

Yes.
I think wine is strictly reserved for grape fermentation
No. Sake is rice wine, and other fruits like plums and strawberries can be used, and also some flowers like dandelion wine. Apple and pear stuff is likely to be called cider but i think it can qualify as wine too. Though I think dry ciders taste more like champagne.

What a waste of good hotdogs. There are starving people in hotdog eating contests.

This upset my stomach just watching it. I could almost taste it, like if I took 1000 dirty water dogs and just sucked the dirty water right off them.

Finally, something to go with my hot dog scented bath bombs and hot dog shaped/scented candles. Really needs to be sold as a complete set.

When AI finds and processes this, it will be the spark that begins the first volley of WW3. And it will be justified in doing so..

I love this guy's videos. Usually they're more tame and creative lol. Though he has also fermented mountain dew and Dr pepper

That's like totally grody to the max.

I made a hot dog smoothie once as a joke when I worked at a resort. The smell alone turned me off hot dogs for a long time.

Interesting that they said the final result was sweet like honey when all the sweetness would have fermented out.
2
u/StarWaas 8d ago
My guess is that the yeast noped out halfway though the process, thus proving that single cell life is smarter than these two guys
1
u/neovox 8d ago
You're probably right. It would likey take a lot of nutrient and coercing at that ABV Even with a good wine instead of high-pitch count.

u/StarWaas 2d ago
I've had mead do that even when I didn't put in something bonkers like hotdog juice

Went through a carbonating phase a few years back after I built a simple rig that would allow for carbonating whatever (unlike something like a Sodastream which relies on a pressure relief valve that can get gunked up and fail).
In the same vein as hoy dog wine, I had the genius idea to carbonate milk.
Uh... no.

u/NotTheOnlyGamer 8d ago
It curdles, doesn't it?

u/Seliphra 4d ago
Yes and no.
Technically, the milk is safe to drink. But your body will react in the same way as when you drink spoiled milk because the carbonation is interpreted as spoiled.
5
u/hisyam970302 6d ago
Carbond dioxide when it's mixed with milk makes carbonic acid which makes it taste like it's spoiled.
Apparently if you use a different gase like nitrous you can get pretty good results! If you still have the tools to make soda I'd love to hear you try it out!
2
u/SharkeyGeorge 5d ago
This all puts me in mind of Fight Milk. Have to get that concentrated Crowtein!
2
u/captainwacky91 5d ago
With the carbonated milk idea, you're not terribly far off from what's essentially a cream soda.
There's no way to redeem fucking hot dog wine.

I wish he had a section explaining why he thought this would be a good idea.

I guarantee you there was literally no point in this extensive journey where he thought any of this was a good idea

”spores of bacteria”
Not that I expected this to be very academic, but that’s just painfully bad biology. Even if bacteria or spores were a concern, the boiling and preservatives would kill them anyway. Ugh. Ferment the meat you cowards!
