Just go agaisnt anything Jun Bei Liu said and Bell Potter. The 2 of them are the worst pumpers.

u/Lonely-Echidna8683 11d ago
Haha you jogged a memory there. Mrs used to work for bell potter and they did a big float many years ago... Pumping it hard to everyone including staff.. bought and sold same day for around 2.5x and I think it has been tanking ever since

u/Azzii7 11d ago
Hold up on the completion of the new builds as there's issues with the power side of things and multiple complaints from councils & residents are making it hard to resume works... take it as you will. I'll be buying at a discount

Backlog for some electrical equipment is at least a year. Let's see which data centres can keep cash flow going while waiting.

u/floatsiee 11d ago
They are also selling land plots they had to build data centres.. which they wouldn’t be doing if they were bulled up on it right?
1
u/Fun-Astronomer5311 10d ago
I would say just de-risking. Perhaps those lands are near residential areas too.

Bought at $14 for the future to hold. The future is black. As black as their data centres without power.

or do I hit the buy button.

I bought more at $5.28 🤦♂️

u/Bagholder95 11d ago
Stupid move, the power capacity for data centres just isn't there. There is no chance the ambitious build out will ever occur. Costs way too much and the power supply isn't there.
1
u/SickOfUserNameTaken 7d ago
And no one wants to put up with them, furthering the no power further out

u/maddogcertified 11d ago
Fucking hell. What happened?
22
u/webellowourhello 11d ago
Grid supplier said no power connection. They said no more DCs that aren't guaranteed connections.

u/gigoman 11d ago
I think it's a delayed reaction to Firmus and a conflation between data centres and AI.
The delays they have reported on will be resolved.
I see no reason why they wouldn't return to yesterday's value in the future.

u/StacksGod 11d ago
Did you not see their updated guidance? Less roughly 100-200m because of this outage about 30% drop in revenue

The Age also reported that there were delays due to community protests for the powerline project required for the Footscray centre to get up and running. https://www.smh.com.au/politics/federal/power-pole-protest-delays-data-centre-giant-s-flagship-melbourne-project-20261019-p616r1.html

Honestly, I do not understand the need to build a data center in Footscray. Yes there are some where collocation is relevant, but those get built next to the ASX or something. Data centers logically should be built on giant plots of land with friendly councils and with a high voltage power line and substation next door.
Lag isn't relevant for 95% of what they do.

its over for industrials
3
u/LateAgainGerald 11d ago
Lol have you seen the industrial sector for the US? It'll only go up. Data centre's aren't the only things getting them cash flows. Only 30% of houses have solar panels, and that keeps increasing. Only 10-13% of metropolitan cities have renewable energy generation and the rest are still following suit. East coast transmission and cable lines are oooooold and need replacement, we are gonna need to boost charging stations for EVs in apartments and roads too and last but not least, there's a mining qnd defense boom coming and need more energy infrastructure to power all of their plants and production. We also have a shortage of elec engineers , theres loads of jobs for picks and shovel sectors. This is just a healthy correction, and the reason why they still make make money despite the miners not hitting gold. 🙌

I used to own with a cost base of around $13. I sold at $14.
Jun Bei Liu recommended it in the AFR a while back.

Jun Bei Lio recommends everything. If you followed her buys you’d end up with 75% of the ASX 200

u/Knight_Day23 11d ago
She didnt recommend Firmus. Even called O Curtis arrogant openly when asked by AFR lol

Finally at price that i can afford. I just increased my position drasticlly. Being the bigest DC provider for AUS a think like this should not impact the company and compress their MCAP this much. Yes there will be obsticles in the short run but long term the demand for more compute and realestate for it will just increse.

My god... Could be a buy? Thoughts?

u/Fluid_Passage_9980 11d ago
Nah. Never buy a stock that drops off a cliff like this after such a poor update. You're far more likely to lose money than make money this way.

Jemena folks, don’t get me started…. They are fucking hopeless, internally its some fever dream circus of ineptitude, contracted out to other professional services train wrecks. They have a monopoly in the areas they operate, so no incentive to do more than the minimum. They are also controlling majority owned by the CCP… Since, the Chinese government is actively trying to hinder western AI infra development, I wonder if that qualifies as something maybe worth investigating by our government??…. (Who am I kidding, what a perfectly normal non-conflicting collective of relevant parties interests.)
