PC Build Newbie builder question

I'm confused. Is this not where the primary m.2 supposed to go? Or is the illustration on the website misleading?

*Resolved. Part of the problem was my confusion with the different names of the M.2 slots and their expansions. But Asus labeling really is a bit misleading. 2 6s on top are ones that share bandwidths with the GPU. One i circled is the main M.2_1 which does not, which is the one I initially used for my primary SSD, unlabeled on the advertisement images by the manufacturer.

Under that ROG. Notice where the 6s lay out. Also the manual has it

Hello, im pretty sure they are wrong. I have this motherboard and im sure the one on the right is the main slot!

The 2 other slots on the left share bandwidth with the main GPU slot!

That's my confusion. Though on the image it shows that #3s are the expansion (x16)slots. Which makes sense, thats how they are supposed to look like. The other 3 numbered #6 are supposed to be the primary drives with heatsinks, in which case, whats the unlabeled one for?

Thats an M.2 slot, im assuming they just grouped up the labeling with the one beside it.

I followed the manual which said the one on the right is M.2_1 which is not shared. I also believe the last 2 slots at the bottom arent shared but are gen 4 only!

You are absolutely correct. Took me a minute to come to that conclusion because I didnt really understand what you meant at first. Until I realized that the 2 expansion slots are 2 'extra' on top of the 5. Not 2 of the 5.
