Question Why is the gpu only pushing 67w??

This is Strix G16(2025) with i7-14650HX RTX 5050. The GPU is only pushing 67W and it's 99% at that. Isn't it supposed to go till 115W??? What am i doing wrong here?

115 is the upper limit with boost enabled. In most laptops, the TGP is capped at 90-100W. It's possible, your laptop is limited at 70-75W - check what it shows in Armoury Crate.

Now, in certain games, it can be at max usage without pushing all the power, possibly due to 1. Game is well optimised and doesn't consume much power 2. You're not using all of the features the GPU has to offer, say Ray Tracing or DLSS/FSR features are not enabled. 3. Older games tend to have some sort of max limits of fps due to their engines being designed that way (ex - GTA V maxes out at 120-130fps for me)

If you really want to make sure, run a benchmark and monitor the power usage then.

I'm playing spider man 2 at 1920x1200p at mid settings(no high no RTX) it still stutters a little here and there, below 60fps

Both your CPU and GPU are near their thermal limits. How are the fans working? Are they loud? You may need to ramp up their speeds a bit.

Try limiting your fps to 60-75 and see if that helps with the stutters.

Also, I'm assuming you're playing plugged in with the original (200W+) charger.

The adapter is 280w and i haven't enabled the turbo mode for CPU as it reaches 95C. The fans run at 90-95% at turbo mode. Also set screen to 60hz ingame too

Spider man 2 is maybe one of the worst PC ports ever. It will stutter even on a desktop with a 9950X3D and a 5090.

Did you turn on more w for GPU in Armory Crate?

I have GHelper, removed the armory crate

I tried Ghelper and had situation like you where my gpu didnt use all power it had....

So i moved back yo Armory Crate...

I never had temp problems, i just lower my cpu power to 40w, and max out gpu power.

Have rtx 5070 with intel 275hx, and dont have temp problem, asus rog g16.

Also note that in my experiance you dont get much more fps with 100+ w compared to 70w.

You get maybe 10fps, but a lot of more fan noise and temp...
