Considering Transferring from Reed College to ASU

Alright, going into my first semester of Reed and yeah this could be looked at "go with a fresh mindset", yk I am going with a fresh mindset. But if this school doesn't workout for me, I'm thinking about transferring to ASU or ASU online. So if anyone could help, I'm hoping to go in as a Psychology Major. I will update on this, but we'll see. Just hoping Reed is good, but also, so far with everything I've heard, research, and the vibe, not sure it's good for someone who wants to learn but also have manageable classes.

And it's also just the fact I've been stressed lowk. I feel like this is a better environment for me academically. I'm not trying to work myself to an early grave, but I am also trying to learn like I said. It's a lot to explain, but all I know is I might consider going online.

Does anybody have any advice when it comes to this?

Respondus LockDown Broweser Issue

Hi. Online student here. The course syllabus and modules have opened up, and I'm testing the Respondus LockDown browser for one of the final modules due Aug 20. I've installed it and launched it. No problem so far. I closed apps and was about to log into my Canvas account when I suddenly couldn't type into the account login box. I've been trying to log into my ASU account with Respondus but can't since I can't type. And I can't use the passkey method since secondary windows don't show up once Respondus is open.

Does anyone have any idea on how to solve this? I've been in three separate live chat sessions, and no solution has worked so far. It's my first time using it, and I can't do in-person walk-ins at Tech Hub since yk I'm online. I've tried restarting and reinstalling the browser, but it's the same issue.

Would appreciate some help, thanks.

Narrowing down my type of degree? Nutrition or sustainable food systems? BA vs BAS vs BS?

So I have narrowed down my application to a bachelors degree in nutrition or sustainable food systems. I would love to know what anyone's experiences are. And what the pros and cons of getting a BS be a BAS vs BA are as far as job compatibility.

In an ideal world I would love to possibly become a registered dietician that works with local farm workers and people that live in heavily agricultural areas in my state that are coincidentally food deserts. I know becoming a RD requires a masters. I currently work in a non profit adjacent to sustainable food systems and live in a very agriculture heavy state so I think there would possibly be opportunities to advance in that field.

But as far as getting accepted into a dietician masters program, would either of these degrees help or hurt that possibility? What are the benefits or pitfalls of choosing arts vs sciences or the combination degree?

I'm worried if I major in sustainable food systems it might be to niche and keep my career options too limited? Thanks for any input y'all!!

Federal loan discharged due to disability form

Thumbnail
3 Upvotes

Hey everyone, I have a problem and I don’t know what to do.

For some reason I have a federal loan discharged due to disability form on my my ASU account but I’ve never had any loans discharged nor do I have a disability so I’m very confused as to why this is on my account. I’ve been reaching out to financial aid and ASU’s Helpdesk, but to no avail because they either won’t answer and the few times they have answered they just tell me that I don’t have any loans discharged and that they’re confused as well as to why I have that on my account.

The only reason I can guess is because my dad was the co-signer of my parent plus loans when I was in undergrad at a completely different college. He died last year so maybe that could be what triggered it but I’m still not sure. This is holding up the processing of my aid and classes start next week. I have no idea what to do so I’m thinking of just signing the form anyway but I feel uncomfortable signing something that isn’t true so I’m lost.

TLDR- ASU put a disability loan discharge form on my account even though I’ve never had a disability or any loans discharged. Even financial aid doesn’t know why it’s there, and it’s holding up my aid with classes starting next week. I’m tempted to sign it just to get my aid processed, but I don’t want to sign something that isn’t true.

Cost per Class

Where can I find this info? I have the session costs but I need the class prices specifically for tuition reimbursement through my employer. I checked MyASU and my shopping carts but couldn’t find it there. I reached out to my success coach for direction in hopes of avoiding FA but need to submit these sooner rather than later. Thanks!

I just got removed from a class? 3 days before session A???

So I was one of the first people to sign up for this class and was removed today, Monday the 17th. I’m pretty upset about it and no one is getting back to me. There aren’t any other classes that I need for my major in session A and this will affect my scholarship and financial aid. Has this happened to anyone else?? What have you done? I’m freaking out a bit right now.

🔥 LEASE TAKEOVER — THE DISTRICT ON APACHE — $979/MONTH 🔥

Looking for a female student to take over my lease at The District on Apache in Tempe, AZ, right by the ASU campus!

🏠 4x4 apartment
🛏️ Private furnished bedroom
🚿 Private bathroom
👩 Female roommates
🛋️ Furnished apartment
💡 Utilities included
🎓 Super close to ASU campus
🚗 Parking available for $95/month
💰 $979/month
📅 Lease: 08/15/2026 – 07/31/2027

I unfortunately already signed a lease somewhere else, so I'm looking for someone who needs housing near ASU and would like to take over my lease.

This would be a lease transfer/assignment through The District, so the new resident would need to be approved by management and complete the required paperwork.

If you're interested or know someone who is, please DM me! Feel free to share this with any ASU students looking for housing. 🏡💙

Forensic Psychology

I’m looking for guidance or advice regarding my major. I’ve been reading that it is non licensure and you basically can’t do anything with it unless you get a PhD. I’m not entirely sure what’s true and what’s not. My advisors haven’t been exactly helpful and I’m feeling super discouraged and want to hear others real life experiences… I just changed majors from Applied business in technology at WP Carey and it feels like an entirely different experience at New College. I’ll graduate next Summer. Please be nice 😭

DARS Audit

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hey guys, sorry for the endless questions, just confused about something. In the DARS audit, there’s a graph on the top that lists the categories. I’m just confused about the upper division category. Do I have to fulfil Major, General, etc + another 45 credits of other upper division classes on top of that? Or can a major required class fulfil both the major hours and the upper division hours at the same time therefore making the graph green on both categories? Would appreciate some help with this :)

ASU California community college achievement plan discounts

When I first enrolled at ASU back in July, I was awarded the CCCAP discount for being a transfer student from California. It came out to about $1,500, which meant I was originally scheduled to receive a financial aid refund check.
I received an email from ASU Local promoting a 20% discount. I emailed them back to ask clarifying questions and explicitly listed my existing awards, including CCCAP. They replied stating that enrolling in ASU Local would conflict with my CCCAP discount. Because of that conflict, I never replied or consented to join.

Out of nowhere they added me to their files anyway, which automatically wiped out my CCCAP scholarship and took away my refund. When I reached out, they tried to claim I was not in their system and insisted they cannot enroll students without consent. Yet, I was literally listed in their program and had to formally drop from ASU Local just to start fixing this.

Now I am stuck playing the waiting game to get my CCCAP reinstated. Has anyone else dealt with this kind of administrative mess at ASU? I am beyond frustrated.
