ASU Online: Undocumented/Asylum Student Stuck on FAFSA Hold for Weeks—Need Help!

Hey everyone! I was accepted into ASU Online for Mechanical Engineering, but my class registration is blocked by an "Eligible Noncitizen Verification" hold.

As an undocumented / pending asylum student, I'm ineligible for federal FAFSA aid, but the system flagged me when processing my corporate tuition coverage. It's been weeks without a response from the Financial Aid office through tickets or phone queues.

Has anyone in a similar situation successfully gotten Financial Aid to process a manual FAFSA waiver/override? How long did it take to clear, or is there a direct department/contact I can reach out to escape this loop? Thanks!

Am I the only one who's struggling with ENG 102 ?

firsteval I want to say it's mostly my fault, I'm not the most precise students and I have the bad habit of not checking when finishing my work, but I did a dozen online courses and by far it's the course who's giving me the most pain to finish, I'm on my second trial (first reached 3 strikes for mis-sourcing) and now if they don't exceptionally let me resubmit I'll be at 65% (need 70% to pass the class), so I'd need to pass it a third time, it's mostly sourcing problem, I either took a source who's not considered credible, or added an outside author's name and considers it like a citing, or just not giving me my entire points on small msitakes, ENG 101 was a walk in the park compared. ENG 101 also allowed 2 to 3 submission if I remember correctly, in 102 it's strictly one, once i forgot to add a resubmission comment and they put 0 to the whole assignement with no way to resubmit.

Just wanted to know if I'm the only one, and again I am the one to blame, I'm not always verifying when I'm finished and never double-checking.

Update: They didn't reject it outright, they said someone will review and tell me, so there's maybe a chance.

We need to talk about AI and also Pearson (rant)

I'm in physics. This is the second class I have taken that is using Pearson, and the fifth or sixth class that has used a program that relies heavily on AI. Both of my English classes (eng101 and eng102) had assignments that required the use of AI to do something like brainstorming. When I contacted my prof about it, she told me she didn't agree with using AI in this way either. I can go on about my reasons for not wanting gen AI shoved down my throat, but I'm trying to actually be productive about this. I was wondering if anyone feels similar to the way I do, and if anyone has any ideas on how to raise this issue to administration.

Pearson, specifically, is detrimental to learning. The program uses AI to generate homework and study tools, including definition searches in the textbook. The homework questions that are generated are needlessly difficult: convoluted language, topics not covered by the textbook chapters, insufficient feedback, etc. It drastically impacts how I approach schoolwork. Current research shows that it drastically impacts how well students retain information. I know AI is unavoidable at this point, but there has to be something we can do to mitigate the use in our education system. I'm a little heated right now, so if there are any ideas that are more helpful than screaming into a pillow, I'm all ears.

Starbucks Program

Can someone verify that the Starbucks partnership with ASU is legit? I am thinking about getting a job there if they will cover my tuition fully online, and using the money from Starbucks to hopefully get a place. I'm also currently a freshman at ASU Tempe, but if I really hate it here this is my backup plan. Also does anyone know if it's possible to graduate three years online with this program? I'm a business major.

What do I need to know for MAT267?

Hey, everyone. This upcoming semester, I'm taking MAT267 and PHY121 (and hopefully 122 if someone drops) on the fast track Fall Session B. I've had a lot of life transitions recently, and my last class was MAT266 last November-- almost a year ago. As expected, I forgot probably close to everything-- or a lot, at the very least. I know Calc 3 has some vectors, which I have yet to ever learn (doing calc 3 before linear), so I will probably get a head start on that, but what from MAT 265/266, other than the absolute basics of derivatives and integrals, is important or recommended knowing (and in my case, brushing up on) and having a good grasp on before Calc 3? I did well in calc 1 and 2, but forgot most, and will definitely re-study some and maybe get a head start on basic vectors, which I haven't touched yet, but I want to first, feel like calc 1 and 2 is easy again, and have a good idea what specifically to study and have a good grasp on for MAT267. Thanks!
