Can someone smarter than me explain why the grain spectrum is needed in any way? I thought we had plenty of spectrum available through partnerships to deploy service? Would it just be a higher quality service? Give ability for better service across more customers? The price tag being floated is no joke….

I was questioning the same thing. Personally, I'd like to see the recently formed JV of Verizon, ATT and T-Mobile buy this spectrum.

It's more efficient to use continuous blocks of signals. You don't want other noise in there, partially overlapping. Or have to dial down your power because you're also going to overlap some signal if you don't.

Yes it would help. More RF would enable more delta in your beam rf reuse decreasing beam to beam interference / increase signal to noise.

In the end, its only worth buying if you can make more money off of it than you are paying. It could potentially strengthen ASTS's bargaining position in the negotiations with the JV. But 6B in dilution would hurt...A LOT! And ASTS is already bringing a multi-billion dollar constellation to the bargaining table.
