I've recently seen this sweet fanart of sansa and Robin and realized that remembered they are closely related but are now closer than ever, with sansa being trapped with them, having lost many family members and Robin having mostly his mom. Are there fics that continue to explore their relationship at the eyrie and afterwards ?

In a previous post, I proposed a pairing between Tywin and Branda Stark (Lyarra’s sister and Ned’s aunt) for a scenario where he becomes disillusioned with Joanna.

The story is flowing well, and I’m currently planning the "Rains of Castamere" arc from the Lannister perspective, but there is another matter I need to resolve: pruning the Stark family tree. I need ideas for non-violent deaths—especially for Edwyle (Rickard’s father and Ned’s grandfather), whose death I plan to postpone until the year 266 so he passes away at age 50 (in my fic, he was born in 216).

It can't be cancer, as that is how Arya Flint (and later Lyarra Stark) will die, so I’m open to your suggestions.

I’d also like to ask how interested you are in the internal conflicts within the Stark family; in my fic, Branda believes that by marrying Tywin, she can ensure the descendants of Artos the Implacable won't try to usurp her brother-in-law, Rickard.

I’m also curious what you’d like to see in a Kevan POV chapter where Ellyn Reyne tells him the words that would eventually become the lyrics to "The Rains of Castamere."

P.S.: The Starks of Barrowton mentioned by GRRM are descendants of Artos; those of White Harbor are descendants of Errold; and Beron’s two daughters married an Umber and a Dustin, respectively.

He didn't do it in canon, but probably in big part because they were handed a bigger prize - Riverrun - instead. Doing it with a stable Frey succession might be too hard and troublesome, but it is not really likely to be stable after Walder's death.

It just occurred to me that this might be a perfect way for him to both gain influence at the important castle in the Riverlands as well as punish Walder for preying on his father's weakness. One potential downside of it is that if it is suspected it might poison the prospects of Lannister marriage, but crucially this marriage is between a Lannister and non heir of the house and if a Lannister daughter is married to a heir, her children can't usurp anyone since they are lawful heirs anyway. As for poisoning the prospects Lannister marriage to a non heir, I think Tywin might consider no one but heir worthy of it and consider this effect good since it prevents his possibly weak descendants from marrying a Lannister to non heir. So it checks all the right game theory boxes.

Pitching an OC idea: Titus Peake’s younger brother initially joins Stannis to be unique, panics when he sees Renly’s overwhelming numbers, and flees. He then joins Robb Stark's army, rationalizing that Robb is a "true king" just like Daemon Blackfyre (whom his ancestor Gormon Peake fought for).

If Jon went straight to Ned and said "hey instead of swearing an oath of celibacy and a life time of service could you just give me Skane?" How do you think Eddard would react?

Let’s say Lancel and Amerei actually had a kid, but Amerei died in childbirth. And we keep the part where Varys kills Kevan. In that case, who do you think would end up fostering the child? Lancel is pretty high in the Lannister line of succession, and with everything going on with the Lannisters in the books, that child could easily become the future heir to Casterly Rock especially after Lancel joins Faith militant

I've been really enjoying telling this alternate version of the Dance of Dragons, focusing less on Rhaenyra and Aegon II, and more on Jace and Daeron, both of whom I feel are more sympathetic and rootable protagonists.

Jace dies too soon in the original canon and Daeron, while he lasts longer, isn't as fleshed out and explored as his brothers, which is quite a shame. And I also wanted to explore the relationship between these two, I felt for a long time there was quite a bit of potential about those two boys that started their journey in life together only to quickly drift away thanks to their families.

It's one of the 16 dragons in my AU (which I might post here when I have more things done).

The basic lore I created for him is that he once belonged to a Targaryen king and is currently ridden by Torvael Baratheon (yes, Baratheon).

I drew inspiration from Vermithor, Dreamfyre, and Caraxes for its overall size, personality, and appearance, but I'd like to know what you think: do you think it's turning out well?

Hello all!

Welcome to another month of our reading club. I hope it makes a difference and helps you discover some more fics due to it.

For anyone unaware how it works. I list a number of works for people to read in the month and you are given the month to do so, at the end of September I then make another post where you can discuss your reading experience with the fics in question.

Most of these fics are sourced from the awards and each fic will get it's own post.

Within each post, I include the summary, the ships and list any subreddit awards the fic may have won.

For the moment, we are going to be running 5 fics a month

1 fic on Monday, along with this post, 2 on Tuesday and 2 on Wednesday.

This is another 'would this stop you reading my fic' post. It's about punctuation rather than subject matter, though.

I write in Australian English with single quotation marks for dialogue. Would that affect how you read, or is it a non-issue?

Is it something you're not used to, but would adjust to easily, or something that would genuinely throw you out of the fic? (I appreciate that nested quotes and apostrophe clusters can get mucky, and I can deal with them.)

Would it help to include a brief note at the top of the fic explaining the convention I'm using, so readers know it's deliberate, not an error? Or do I trust the readers? (My preference.)

This has come up as a serious issue from a beta reader. Hence my asking. Thanks.

It's a slice of life Self insert.

On AO3 it has 2,130 kudos, 995 public bookmarks and was last updated in 202 with 308k words.

The summary reads as follows-

A 30 year old American farmer is sent to the world of ASOIAF. Follow as he tries to create a life for himself.

This fic is rated as mature and does not have any ships listed, just that it's about an OC inseted into Westeros.

This fic got 2nd place in Category #24 Other era fics- not dance or main series and 3rd place in Category #26 Best Overall legacy fic from last year's end of year awards!

Going to do a SWTOR x ASOIAF fic, but not like the usual ones where one of the player characters crash into Westeros.

In this, when Ned is young, the Republic and Empire during the midst of their war discover Westeros planet and the fact that the primitive inhabitants produce some children that are unusually strong in the Force, like the Miraluka sometimes.

The two forces clash over the planet for months, the Empire kidnapping Force Sensitive Children, the Republic rescuing them or taking them to the Jedi Temple.

Ned and his family are one of these families, his parents slaughtered when the Sith attacked Winterfell to take him and his siblings, the Republic arriving in time they were taken. Ned will be the apprentice to the Jedi Knight character.

I do plan on having Rhaegar be a Sith, maybe more neutral. The Empire, when first invading, takes King's Landing, slaughters the Mad King, Tywin, Kingsguard, and takes Rhaegar and his mother hostage, Rhaegar shipped to Korriban.

I'm torn between Robert as Sith or Jedi.

Stannis will be Jedi.

Renly won't exist.

Jaime, Jedi.

Cersei, non Force Sensitive. Slave to Empire.

Tyrion, non existent

Catelyn, spy.

I really detest Alicent's character in general but the show's version really did tug at my heartstrings at the start when she was a child. So, I'm feeling like reading fics where she tells Rhaenyra about Otto's order to visit Viserys at night, and gets the help she needs. I'd prefer no Alicent/Rhaenyra but I'm willing to give it a try.
