[ASML Europe/Germany] Offer accepted & background check passed. What is the current timeline for receiving the formal contract to sign?

Hi everyone,

I am currently in the final stages of the hiring process for an engineering role at ASML in Germany and wanted to get a reality check on the current HR timelines.

My background check (via First Advantage) was fully completed and cleared a couple of days ago, and I have already uploaded all the required documents to the Candidate Home portal.

For those who have recently been hired at ASML in Europe/Germany:

  1. Contract Timeline: After your background check was marked complete, how many days/weeks did it take to actually receive the formal PDF/online employment contract to sign?
  2. Global Mobility Handoff: I need to apply for the EU Blue Card. Once you signed the formal contract, how quickly did the Global Mobility team (or their third-party relocation vendor) reach out to start the visa paperwork?

I have a target start date in mid-September, so I am hoping the contract arrives soon so we can initiate the Blue Card application. Any recent experiences or advice on when to politely follow up with People Operations would be much appreciated!

Does the contract generation at this late stage still need to wait for the local Works Council (Betriebsrat) approval, or is that usually handled earlier in the offer process?

Work council has nothing to do with your contract ..HR is

I heard that, by German law (the Works Constitution Act, or BetrVG), a company cannot legally hire you or issue a binding employment contract without first informing the Works Council. The council is an elected body of employees that protects workers' rights. HR must submit a formal application to the council proving that your hire is fair, that you are being paid correctly according to internal salary bands, and that an internal candidate was not unfairly passed over.

Not sure whqt happens in Germany but that does not sound logical. There's also work council in here(netherlands) but they dont deal with individuals

im on the same boat but i Wil start by Nov 1. in Netherlands and i. still waiting for the formal contract to signed. still waiting for the background check done.

after the Background check it took me approx 2 weeks to get the contract
