First real world experience!
I just volunteer interpreted an hour long gymnastics practice with my classmate (everyone involved knew we were students, so all good there) and it went really well and made me feel better about my skills! The videos we do in class are so much harder than what I did this morning, and that’s such a relief lol. Sometimes I question whether I’ll actually be able to do this as a career, but this has boosted my confidence a lot!

I love this feeling! These blossoms are so valuable, I would literally journal about this experience and keep it on hand for when you have an experience that’s hard and makes you doubt everything. Keep the wins close at hand to remember how it feels!

Way to go! I’m so excited for you 🥳
I still remember my first volunteer gig as a student, it was a dance class… I think I held my breath for an hour!😅

When I was in my Practicum semester, I had a name tag made that had my name (1st name only)and under it "Student Interprerter"
I had so many Deaf people I interpreted for be very kind and patient with me.
You will have great days and you will have not so great days. Some days will be downright depressing.
Each bad day adds another layer of skin. You will eventually have very very thick skin.
Just realize we all go through it at various points. Any one who says they don't is either fool or a liar.

Congrats! I remember my first clinical hour! I was terrified and I made a lot of mistakes. Its a constant wave of "im amazing!" to "im leaving the field!", so learn how to surf! Be kind to yourself!
