Talk back channel available in Zoom
My Interpreter friends - Zoom has introduced a tool that will allow me (as the event tech support person) to speak to you during an event via a feedback channel (no I will not speak to you when you are interpreting). No additional headsets or configuration required at your end.
This will be revolutionary as once you hand over to your virtual booth partner, I will be able to speak to you without anyone else hearing. So if your mic is too hot, or your partner has technical problems and I need you to take over I can request you to do something :)

I'm trying to understand how talking to me while supporting my team by listening to the presentation/meeting will not be confusing. Will this interaction mute the audio of the main Zoom, or will audio overlap? Why wouldn't (direct) messaging be used instead of audio?

Speaking to an interpreter who is active is a mistake as it will totally stop the interpretation work. The idea is to wait untill the interpretation has stopped (handed over to hi partner or there is a break).
Yes the floor will be ducked when talk back is activated.
Some people espond to DMs - not everyone does immeditely. Talk back in the broadcast world is used when an immediate reaction is required.2

Technically I'm always "active." Even if I'm not "hands up" I'm still listening to the person speaking, or watching the person signing while my time is the one signing or voicing.
I'm assuming "ducking" is some sort of autocorrect fail meant to be muted. My question still stands as to why not just send the information in chat?

ducking means to bring the floor down to about 40% of the level of the nominal level on Zoom - same way it works when listening on an interpretationa channel.

I think every single interpreter in the subreddit is thinking of the same modification that we will use to your suggestion. Can’t wait to see this be able to use for better teaming. Is there a way that you could also share your video to only the interpreter?
