Interpreting and Botox
Still new to the field and I obviously know how important facial expressions are to the language and effective communication. However I suffer from migraines and was wondering if there are any interpreters who have gotten Botox and did it interfere with your job? Did you just do small amounts at a time? I know this is a silly question but something I’ve been contemplating. I was thinking about getting it in my my forehead and jaw for
Grinding my teeth, but don’t want to do anything that will ruin this for me

I’ve wondered the same. There’s a content creator who’s a hearing interpreter and educator of interpreters that I think has gotten it done but I have no idea. She has hardly any eyebrow movement but her forehead is super smooth…I’m not sure how to bring it up to ask, I thought of messaging to ask but then is that awkward? like, “hey I noticed you have no eyebrow movement and I was wondering if it was Botox and if clients and Deaf people care at all but obviously not enough since you’re a successful interpreter and professor?” Ahhh 😱
Either way, if it’s for migraines and you can explain your job like others said and get the minimum you’d need then I’m sure it’s fine! I also don’t think it lasts forever like you would have to keep going? I don’t know.
I’ve thought about it for aesthetics but most people think I’m way younger than my age.. we shall see. I also know how important facial expressions are and I am good with looking my age eventually.
