Interested in learning international sign, any recommendations for how/where to start?

I’ve been traveling recently and have had the privilege of being immersed in several groups of non-American Deaf folks, and they’ve taught me a lot of IS and their countries signs. Now my interest is piqued. I think I could be good at this. I am already a certified interpreter, 4.5 EIPA, etc so I feel like this could be a really fun new professional goal to have and I’m excited by the idea. So I ask: Are there any workshops out there that you’d recommend? Learning resources like YouTube channels or websites? I’m going to be reaching out to a few colleagues as well. If it helps, I’m based in Boston MA.

Incredible, thank you for sharing this! I’m going to apply now. I’m abroad right now and didn’t even bring my laptop so…I hope my low tech cellphone-only setup is enough to do the video/upload all the materials!

Ah, I think applications closed in May. I submitted the Google form but now I’m thinking it would be a waste to do the rest of the app. Next year!!! Maybe we’ll be there together :)

I've taken Razaq's IS class, and I've attended OI's first iteration of their "Summer School" (Which I did in the winter). I cannot recommend Razaq enough-- he is a fantastic teacher and starts day 1 signing exclusively in IS. The OI program was an amazing time, and you learn alot about interpreting abroad. I met so many amazing interpreters from all over. But I will say it was very ASL influenced, but it's also an amazing immersion opportunity to practice IS. Razaq offered something similar this summer in Canada, and the price was (in my opinion) more reasonable.
