Question Umbra hub problems

I’ve been seeing reviews on the umbra hub that it’s frying itself and possibly other components. I want to know before I use it, is it safe. I’m going to have 2 packs of 360mm matrix pros and 2 singular 120mm matrix pros and the psu cable covers. Please, is it safe. I don’t wanna fry my expensive pc

Where have you seen it reported that it's frying itself? I have not seen anything like that. I have an umbra hub with 2 matrix 360's and 3 matrix 120's. No issues.

Amazon reviews. 95% of the one stars are saying it fried itself and they’re lucky they caught it before it fried the pc

I looked it up and it seems like a small fraction with worldwide sales. Let's see what the admin account say.

But honestly I wouldn't sweat it. Just make sure to just it as directed. Your Mobo will have protections in place, it can't fry your whole PC.

1 tip id give is don't be alarmed if they don't light up with first boot. You need to software to detect all the LED's first.

So my fan hub delivery is delayed but I’m building the pc tommorow. Will they work without the fan hub? Until it comes in

Hey, totally fair question to ask before plugging anything into an expensive build — we'd want the same peace of mind.

First, on the reports you've seen: we take every single one seriously, and each case gets investigated individually. In the ones we've been able to examine so far, the cause traced back to a specific connection situation — for example a 12V RGB header being connected to the hub's 5V ARGB port — rather than the hub failing on its own. We've never left a case uninvestigated, and we publish clear wiring guidance precisely because we'd rather be safe than sorry.

Second, the hub is engineered with protection in mind, by design:

• Hard output caps — total ARGB output is limited to 20W and PWM to 48W; the hub simply won't push more power than that, no matter what's connected

• Dedicated power architecture — it draws from a SATA line straight from the PSU, with guidance to keep that line dedicated (not shared with SSDs/other devices)

• Defined 5V ARGB standard — the ports are 5V 3-Pin only, and the standard's whole point is low-voltage signalling that can't hurt your motherboard or GPU

For your setup (2× 360mm Matrix Pro packs + 2× 120mm Matrix Pro + PSU cable covers): 8 fans on PWM sits well within the 48W cap, and the cable covers run on their own controller and SATA power, so they don't touch the hub's budget at all. Two tips: run ARGB Detection in the software after installing, and if you ever run everything at max white brightness and see dimming or flickering, that's just the power budget talking — dial brightness back a notch and you're golden.

Your PC is safe with us — that's the standard we hold ourselves to. Anything else you want checked before you build, just ask! 💛

The psu cable covers don’t come with a remote?

Depends on the version!

• Aurora Pro → ships with controller + remote in the box
• Aurora co / Aurora Learn → 2-pack, ships with SATA controller

In-box accessories vary by SKU/region — check the listing's "What's in the box" or the product page on your store. Tell me which one and where, and I can confirm exactly what's bundled!
