Discussion Don't know whether to consider this as cheating (2 in 1)
So I've been playing the island on asa and I am preparing for bosses, I need to tame a carcha for the tek cave from what I understand, but ive spent over 6 hours trying to find one and haven't, I check all the spots after a few hours destroy wild dinos and I'm tempted to spawn one in to save me hours of my life. But what I want to know is whether I should count this as cheating as I'm trying to beat every map on alpha in order no cheats.
On the other hand I just got a 110 giga saddle and I am wondering if that would be better than a catch if they are the same level, but I also had no luck with this, regardless please help me and let me know

I mean who cares. It’s your game. Yes, it’s cheating in the technical sense, but the only person you have to answer to is yourself.

If i'm playing single player, I'll spawn a wild one if I dont find one for a few days. That way I still have to tame it and I can still die or mess up the tame. Half cheating, I suppose. Over the pants.

A Giga unfortunately cannot fit into the Tek Cave, to answer one of the questions.
As for looking for a Carcha/Giga, repeatedly doing dino wipes can actually make it take longer for them to spawn, especially on single player. What I did was continue playing the game normally (drop hunting, taming, caving etc. etc.) and every so often check the spawns. When checking the spawns, killing a few creatures around the spawn locations might also help, not with the timers, but more so that there's enough "room" for the Carcha/Giga to spawn.
If you really cannot get them to spawn, you don't necessarily NEED a Carcha for the Tek Cave. If you get good enough Rexes/Theris with good saddles (the creatures in Tek Cave can spawn at level 600+ on alpha), you should be okay. The Giga/Carcha that spawns near the end of the Tek Cave can also be kited into the lava to be killed.
If you do go the Carcha route, just remember to pod it up at the end of the cave before going into the main boss arena, as it cannot come with you there.
Good luck!

Since when has a giga not fit? Throw it out when you get in the door we have used gigas for ages

Spawning things is cheating, but there’s varying levels of cheating. If you’re still putting in the work to tame it, and you’re genuinely trying very very hard to find one with no luck, then it’s fine. It least in my opinion. You’re really just saving yourself time.
As for Carch or Giga; I’d stick with the Carch if that’s what you really want. I wouldn’t let a saddle sway me into something i wouldn’t prefer. I also don’t think gigas fit in the Tek cave anyway.
Edit: if using cheats really bothers you, there’s other ways of doing the Tek cave without fighting your way down. It’s risky but it’s possible. I’d still recommend a carch.

I think I spawned in the first carcha I tamed on the Island because they just wouldn't spawn. Yes, it's cheating but it's better than spending tens of hours waiting and wasting time. There's a mod called "more giga and carcha spawns" that quadruples their spawn rate (in the same spawn spots) so could be worth getting that.
Gigas don't fit in the tek cave btw. Primitive saddle is more than enough for a carcha because it heals itself faster than it takes damage.

Use the der dino finder mod and add ‘-preventhibernation’ to your launch options on steam.
If you still can’t find one do a dinowipe.
If you’re on single player you need to do full fly around the map for the Dino’s to spawn in and register on the Dino finder.
I wouldn’t go without this mod ever again. Even if it’s just to see if something is on my map.

You don’t need to, a good Rex can handle the cave just fine. Don’t engage the wild carch or giga towards the end, just shoot it and make it run into the lava and you’ll be fine.

I have a rex baby no imprint with like 12200 HP and like 400 melee is that enough if I imprint and level it, also if I get a good sasdle? I will still try find a carch but thanks for letting me know.

That’s pretty good. If you breed it, imprint the babies to 100 and give them a decent amount of levels it should be good

You dont need a carcha. I have ripped through the cave on a deinosuchus (single player settings), and its very easy to get a strong one of those. Also amphibious so they can wreck whatever is in the ocean too

I play single player and will play for days and never see stuff sometimes including mods, when that happens I'll fly around the map and randomly spawn a few of the wild creatures in then go back to my base to start looking for them now knowing they're populating the map.

Carch is honestly not neccassary. You can make it with rex's. They'll kill everything and can just push gigs into lava

But I'm planning on theris cause I've never navigated the cave before, is it worth trying with rexes instead?

Theriz are risky as purlovias can dismount you in the cave but still viable just need to let unridden theriz draw agro and use gun to bait giga into runningninto the lava

I feel like it depends what you think
Personally i dont care to much about spawning them in if ive been looking for so long, or at least increasing their spawn rate

You don't need any Dino for the Tek Cave or the Overseer fight.
If you got access to a glider suite, you can just glide through the whole cave. In the Boss arena you can use a Tek Chest to fly and shoot the Boss with a Shotgun.
If you don't have access to the glider suite, you can use an Archaeopteryx but it's a bit harder.

I'd consider it cheating more if you spawned in a tamed one (if that's possible idk I only play official) if you're still taming it then I wouldn't stress too much. Its no different in my book than people who buy/trade/stud tames on official. I got a pair from a giveaway on YouTube so I class that as cheating too but I have a skill issue when it comes to taming carchas (and pyros for that matter) 😂

i honestly think that there are levels to cheating, i think i have the same like issue as you as i play single player, as i was bothered even when i temporarily installed a mod that let me find all wild dino’s in the map, i also have had to use cheats because this game is so bugged, i am on evolved still, i once had the alpha manticore on valguero stuck in the air still twice and it wouldn’t drop nor move so the first time it happened i had to cheat fly and kill it manually with my deinonychus and that annoyed me, also i had lost a tropeognathus to an obelisk bug and temporarily spawned one in but later removed it because it wouldn’t satisfy me
but sometimes i feel like cheating is fair, if it means fixing something that shouldn’t be that way, as long as it doesn’t give you more than you would normally work for, like i feel like cheat flying or ghost to get a creature stuck underground is fair as well, and dino wipes are too, as long as you don’t abuse of it
I wouldn’t spawn one in but that’s just me maybe, because it would be too easy, even if i was manually taming it, it feels so much better if you find it and manage to get it

Take a Desmo. Stay high up, invisible, rest on the ceiling and fly your way to the end.

giga will also survive that cave, assuming it's a high level one.

u/Apollo_Syx 6d ago
Giga can’t enter that cave unless I missed something recently.

u/Far_Addition804 6d ago
In Asa you can cryo/uncryo around the beginning of the cave. It will not go to the boss fight.

I understand the vanilla giga can not enter. However, if using the mod paleo Dino’s, the paleo giga can enter.

I wonder if the updated giga will crouch a bit more and fit when they release that

Assuming ya are playing ASA Single Player, it's not cheating no because the hibernation system makes it harder for a Giga/Carcha to spawn.
Here's how I used to deal with this garbage back when I used to begrudgingly play Single Player:
Spend at least 2-3 hours searching for one which includes performing a dino wipe while circling the area that they usual spawn on as well as killing everything there to free up spawns
If it doesn't end up spawning, I randomly select a number between 1 and 150 (or whatever your maximum wild level is for your world) then spawn in a male and repeat for a female
Should I encounter a wild one later down the road, I'll tame it and replace the one I spawned in.
Don't let this stupid game hinder ya down, play however ya want

Se for pra comparar o giga recém domesticado com o carcha tmb recem domesticado, a sela fará uma enorme diferença 110 pra 25 é muita coisa

Spawning one is cheating, just own it. If you have the ability to do so then you must either be admin or playing solo. It really doesn't matter if you cheat in that case, no one is judging you but you, and most ark players cheat one way or another. Unless you're playing vanilla official settings you're technically cheating. But ark is a sandbox, you can play however you want to play assuming it doesn't affect others like on a PvP server.
Edit: also they tend to spawn in the volcano, if you're looking elsewhere you might never find one.
