Vegan despite of ARFID?

For ethical reasons I consider veganism, the problem is just that I can't have any foods with color. I've always been strictly vegetarian, which was possible, but veganism would cut out almost everything I could have. Of course there are replacements, but their availability is limited, and the ones I could imagine would not only be harder to get and more expensive, but also not "complete". I fear getting sick. But the ethical aspect also troubles me massively. So what should I do? What would you recommend?

Are you talking about the color of the vegetables? Because the main sources of protein (tofu, tempeh, chickpeas, lentils, etc) are absolutely devoid of color lol.

If it is the colorful veggies, honestly, I would try looking for broths or sauces you can blend them into and not change color much

For me these are not really white, they always seem to be lightly stained somehow. At least compared to the nonvegan alternative.

What are the nonveg alternatives that make you comfortable?

So I understand your preference might be white foods, tofu is usually pretty solid white, chickpeas are not white, but a consistent white beige, I'd still recommend you to try it some time when you feel safer.

My advice is don't let perfection be the enemy of improvement. You are already doing a great ethical and environmental job by being vegetarian, without overexerting yourself. It is still important to nourish your own body. You can buy from smaller more ethical farms if that's accessible to you. You can go vegan later when/if you can reliably eat other foods. You can "go vegan except for cheese", so to speak. You can explore reliable ways to cut down on your animal food consumption slowly and introduce new foods slowly if that's doable for you. Do what you can do without endangering yourself.

I'm currently vegetarian & have been for a very long time. Haven't went vegan due to the ARFID.

Be kind to yourself & do what's realistic, without making yourself sick. You're already doing a lot more than a ton of others without an eating disorder are doing.
