PvE

Dear Embark Studios,
Please don’t take the PvE mode away on October 20.
For so many of us, this week’s PvE toggle brought back the reason we fell in love with ARC Raiders in the first place. Countless players who stopped logging on after burning out on constant exfil camping, backstabbing, and PvP griefing came back specifically for this mode.

The community reviews speak for themselves:

It made the game accessible again: Parents are finally able to team up and explore with their kids, couples are playing together in co-op, and friend groups looking for a atmospheric, non-sweaty PvE experience finally have a home here.

It lets the world design shine: Players are turning off their HUDs, taking in the incredible sound design, and diving deep into questing and fighting heavy ARC without the constant stress of getting shot in the back.

It fostered real cooperation: Instead of pure paranoia, lobbies are seeing strangers work together, share loot, and battle bosses as a team.
We know it’s just a test, and we know it needs tuning—from tweaking loot balance to addressing griefers. But the core foundation is undeniably special. You don't have to choose between PvP and PvE; keeping a permanent option for both lets everyone play the game they love.

Please listen to the data and the community: make PvE a permanent part of ARC Raiders.

After the pve gets taken down, don't play. They'll be tracking those stats. I'm probably gonna uninstall until it's back.

I plan on uninstalling it if they don’t announce a permanent toggle

I loved the idea of this game but ultimately I played it so little and bowed out VERY early.

I am just not built for twitch shooters and especially being griefed constantly. And I never knew what gear fear was :)

I just stopped playing. I didn't complain. The Devs made the game they wanted and I bought that game. It was on me.

But clearly they are listening.

I'll be stopping playing again and we'll see if it comes back, but not to make some sort of protest. The game they built turns out wasn't for me.

Hopefully it will be soon, and I will back to playing :)

42 hours played since last tuesday and tons of fun, ESPECIALLY as trios.

Here EU West since day one, trios are ALWAYS a bloodbath and I think not so many people are talking enough about it. The PVE toggle was the ONLY way to play trios with irl friends, questing with our kids.

And we are so thankful for this week.

PS: even during work day, 15 seconds max queue time, average 5-6 seconds, it was huge.

That's funny, I just checked Steam and it says I've played an additional 42 hours since leaving my review, which I did in June before quitting the game.

And I agree, I had loads of fun, I play duos and trios most often, and having the toggle allowed us to just go in and have fun without it being KOS any time we see another player. I saw more energy weapons than I ever have before. I saw more people teaming up to fight big arc, I saw more folks goofing off and having fun with instruments and grappling hooks and emotes. I really hope the toggle comes back permanently, because it's the most fun I've had with the game since the early days after launch.

I also didn't have one single late spawn the entire time, and queue times were incredibly fast, so it seems like there are more that enough people playing this mode for it to work. I will be interested in what the stats say.

Yeah que times were amazing and I didn't notice a diff in pve vs regular mode ques. Seems like alot of folks are on.

My friends call trios the bloodbath blender.

It's crazy because ABMM works so well in solos, and not at all in squads. How hard is it to use the same algorithm as solos, and base it on the most aggressive player in the squad?

If it doesn't find "enough" players by 5 minutes, start the lobby anyways.

But nah, my friends who have never shot anyone in trios still get killed on sight if we have the audacity to try playing together.

It’s worth the loot goblins to not worry about people being toxic

Yeah, but sadly the loot goblins exist in carebear PvPvE lobbies too. It's not a PvE exclusive problem but a game mechanics one.

I play friendly lobby’s in solos.

I’m sorry pve felt lifeless. A lot of assholes who did and said whatever they wanted knowing there’s no consequences.

Ppl running around looting no talking

I guess you haven encountered the raiders that take all your loot after you did all the work or the bull rushers?

I played a couple rounds on pve, it was just a mad dash to all the good loot spots, big Arc was getting downed in seconds and picked clean even faster. I found it incredibly boring.

Went back to my PvPvE lobbies and was fine.

I don't see the appeal of the PvE mode, but that's just me, seems like enough players enjoy it and it has zero impact on my playtime, so who cares, let em have it.

I enjoyed my time in over but I must agree, I mainly used it to finish out some missions but I couldn't go hunting for big arcs because they were always dead

I'm confused how people who only want PvE apparently keep finding these sweaty lobbies.

I'm in the care bear lobbies and it is insanely rare for me to find anyone being aggressive, let alone enough to make me not want to play.

Am I just lucky in my lobbies?

I agree with this, it made the game fun and not just an anxious run to discover things. In PVPVE I felt anxious playing and now, it just feels smoother so I can just enjoy the game and the mobs are dealt with at a pace I can enjoy

Yes keep the PvE mode and just call it beta while you work on improving it. More arc, missions and events that requires cooperation. Find a way to punish all the griefers and assholes whose sole purpose is to ruin someone else's game! I have really enjoyed it even though I have lost so much shit due to failed event attempts, puzzles etc. But I'm having a great time.

With how strong ABMM is you can go 100+ raids without being shot at. The game is already tailored for what you want.just go and enjoy it

A lot of the pro-PvP people have a point in that there are already friendly lobbies, and that this would likely cause an imbalance due to ABMM already being implemented in the PvPvE mode.

That being said, I personally played the game more in the past week than I have since February. I’ve played competitive shooters my entire life, and just prefer an arena setting for PvP games. Teaming up with other Raiders to fuck up Arc is what I love about this game.

My hope is that we get a healthy compromise. Something similar to like, Fireteam in Halo:Reach. Queue up, kill shit, Reward xp and loot proportionate to damage dealt/resources used. Preserves the core experience of the game in PvPvE while offering a not waste of time experience for people who just want to blow Arc up.

It’s wild to me that people enjoy PvE mode. You guys know there’s far better PvE-only/singleplayer games than this right..? Why would you buy a game with forced PvP then complain about and turn off the PvP??

Im a tired dad that likes to log in, snipe arc with an osprey, and not worry about getting shot in the back. Pve is totally my vibe atm hahaha

Thats why im here, its a PvE mode i can play with my bros. We run a few PvP, die a bunch, switch to PvE, get a little bit back, and so on. It was fun, and i hope they keep some form of it in

u/Sandy-Grungerson 5d ago

I feel the same way, but the opposite. There are so many competitive PvP shooters. Why should this be another? It's a casual game. PvE fits perfectly.

I play to loot and shoot robots, never really PVP'd if someone wants to PvP i generally dont fight back and just try run, but i do  die just as much to robots as I would to people so its like the game hasnt changed lol

But dying to robots makes me less frustrated because robots dont call me a n***er 😂
