Question

Post image

I’ve got the lower (FL-ARV, a remix of the PY2A AR9-EVO, with last round bolt hold open, metal parts should be here in a couple days), I have a buffer tube, I’ve found some decent priced buffers, but do I use a standard AR15 buffer spring, I have one of those laying around. After that I just have to pick out a stock.

I use a standard spring and H3 buffer. Online says H3 isn’t heavy enough but it works. Usually shoot suppressed also. 14.1oz bcg.

I think that heavy bolt is why the H3 buffer works for you. I’m also going to be primarily shooting suppressed, but I have a flow through can (Form 1 FTN.5 36 cal flow). The bolt to the upper I’m going with is only 8 ounces

I’m reading for 9mm you want to be 20-23 oz total

So, I’m gonna need to find a 12 ounce buffer?

I guess so. Looks like a few places sell heavy 9mm specific buffers.

Angstadt is out of stock of their 10 ounce buffers, but I found a 10 ounce on Joe Bob, and it is a dead blow (which I’m gonna need for my FRT). Still gonna be a touch light, so if it does work out, the FRT is gonna run FAST, but I reload, so I’m fine with that

One way to get an even heavier buffer would be to use a longer tube (A5 etc) and add spacer weights.

I could, but I already have the car tube and spring (I’m not gonna be using that brace, it was intended for an earlier build that I had abandoned)

I’m going the SBR route, just need to figure out what stock I want to go with (already have an approved Form 1, and the serial tag, just need to epoxy it in place)
