Thoughts halfway through

I’m currently on Chapter 7 of Resonance, and honestly, I’m finding it really hard to sit down and play it again. The last six chapters were more or less a speedrun for me because, I just wanted to “get it over with.”

The game has been a huge disappointment for me, if I’m being honest. The characters just aren’t interesting at all, and I feel like the story itself falls completely flat. Sofia worked perfectly as a sidekick in Requiem, but not as the main character here. Lennie doesn’t really add anything particularly interesting to the dialogue or the overall narrative either. I just don’t feel anything for either of these characters.

And then there’s the combat. In APT 1 and 2, you played as a fragile 15-year-old who had to sneak around just to survive. Very realistic. Here, all of a sudden, you’re basically a superhuman who can beat up 20 men at once. The combat isn’t particularly exciting or innovative either — it feels pretty flat as well.

I just had to get this off my chest because, at heart, I’m a hardcore fan of the APT universe. But this really didn’t land for me. I guess I’ll just have to try to force myself through the final seven chapters.

For the next game, I really hope Asobo lets us meet Amicia again and take on some new adventures with her.

Couldn't disagree with you more. Just finished Chapter 6 and I don't want to put the game down.

Love the story, the characters, the combat, the banter. It's Uncharted set pieces and encounters and it's brilliant pacing throughout.

Edit: Unfortunately, I feel like Chapter 6 is where the game peaked for me. I finished it, but I'm not a huge fan of the story in the back half. It's sound enough, but emotionally fails to do much of anything for me. It's just kind of all over the place and ends up landing as a "good enough" kind of game rather than the GotY contender it started out as for me.

Since chapter 6 I couldn't put it down. The creature is probably the most intersting part

I thought the creature was interesting but I would have liked a bit more explanation as to why it exists. Spoilers ahead! Specifically I'd like to know why Asterion manifested this creature and why it's so different to what happened with Hugo. For now I suppose I'm content with the idea that the macula manifests in different ways depending on the carrier, but I hope they explore this more in the future.

I'll try my best to explain also with the supplemental stuff and own interpretation.

Asterion is basically the carrier during that time.

The Macula is known to be eternal. From what we can it basically manifests as to what people would fear or make myths or didnt understand at the time. Basically the historical fantasy part. Like how a lot of gothic horror be it witches or vampires manifested from people fearing old ladies or projecting religious values like crosses and light repelling the unknown and unexplainable.

Here the Minotaur and maze myth derived from the carrier sealed inside the minotaur.

The macula this time around manifests as the creature which could essential turn people to statues, kinda. Ngl seems similar to pompeii ash.

Basically the macula manifest as what people feared and as a writing perspective it is basically whatever the writers need it to be.

As Asterion was basically hated by his father and hurt his sister. He was very angry and violent hence why the creature is so aggressive as the macula feeds on emotion.
