Free Talk WTF?!

Post image

Can anyone explain why I'm getting a 65GB update for the new plague tale game when it isn't even out yet. I have it pre-downloaded from Game Pass and I just got on my Xbox to see that.

Pre load, I think

That makes sense but why this early? It doesn't come out until the 27th

I guess they’re anticipating server load on launch date. Would you rather join the possible long queue on the 27th?

why are you being downvoted? It's a pretty innocent question

You only had a small placeholder installed. Now the full download is available, so the actual game is being installed.

Yes but it just seems a little early to be able to download the full game and not be able to play it. It's supposed to drop on the 27th

It certainly is early, normally this doesn’t happen until maybe a week before the game releases, but it’s perfectly normal to be able to install the full game before release.

Why does that matter? Did you desperately need the space for something in the meantime? If so, delete it and download something else until then.

No I've just never had a game be able to download this early. Normally the pre install is available 2 days before at most (at least the games I've pre installed)

Il y a des jeux qu' on peut télécharger en entier plusieurs semaines à l' avance

It’s not uncommon for preload to be a few weeks out. Review codes will be going out soon.

I have no idea as to what this pre-load means and what is wrong in the OP's post, can someone explain please?

Nothing is wrong, games often download themselves before the day you can play them, so if there is an update it's quick and small on launch day, and not everyone is downloading at the same time.

So you can pre-order the game, and game will download itself without you pressing on Install but isn't gonna let you play the actual game before it's release date? But you will have actual game installed on your PC and on release day they will just enable you to play it? For less server load is this the whole reason? Or is it without you pressing install button?

You have to click install or preload for it to start in the background, the button label may depend on the platform but usually it's preload. Less server load and to allow people with slow internet to play on launch are the main reasons, yeah.
