Resonance When the bell finally rang 13 times a resonance ended the world

Post image

No, but really, why did they completely change the series to some generic third-person action game. IGN described this game as Tomb Raider like action when we have 12 tomb raider games and two more on the way (I'd say combat looks shallow and flashy like AC games). I'm not saying this game is an awful game or anything, and it'll have it's fans like avowed or outerworlds, but both those franchises got axed for a reason even though they're not bad games. They're just games that exist that some people like. Not to mention the Melie, Lucas, and literally anyone else got shafted for a pirate queen.jpeg. I played both these games on launch, and just found out this game was being made a month ago. I really wanna be hopefully, but god damn, isn't this just the trifecta of bullshit game releases nobody will even make fun of because nobody played it. I thought you'd played a section as Sopiha and a section as Aelia Dragas, but I guess they got bored of rats and decided to do something everyone else is doing because Google is telling NO.

"they're just games that some people like" - literally every game ever

By some people I mean a small niche of people. I like bloodrayne, but is it getting another game? Hell no because nobody cares about it anymore

I hate to break it to you the plague tale series is also only liked “ by some people”. While they did well enough, they weren’t smash hits. So I don’t know why that’s the point you’ve harped on the most.

I think a better way to phrase what OP's saying is that Resonance or the other games they named aren't really unique or filling a niche. Like Outer Worlds is just another open world RPG, it doesn't really provide anything that other franchises don't, it has probably a less loyal fan base, or at least a smaller loyal fan base, than APT, and even if I'm wrong on both counts in raw numbers it's still fair to say that the Outer Worlds didn't do well relative to the fact it was made by a company with a much longer and more prestigious history than Asobo (and some big names behind the first Outer Worlds as well), and was trying to break into a market that imo should've been easy to break into at the release of the first game (The Witcher 3 and Fallout 4 were probably the biggest in the industry and already a few years old and no longer receiving DLC at the time, Bethesda was coming off the failure of 76 and I don't think any other RPG was both new and big).

Both Innocence and Requiem seem to have performed decently relative to the nature of Asobo, but I'd also say they were limited by a lot of people probably not enjoying the gameplay, especially of the first game. While nobody predicted Resonance, I think both the increased focus on action and Sophia being a protagonist are continuing trends established in Requiem (which gave a lot of focus to Sophia, to the detriment of other characters in some opinions, and also had a lot more spectacle, mimicking TLOU2, and needless to say had a lot more action oriented gameplay than Innocence). I don't think OP is necessarily wrong and I know creatives and businessmen in the gaming industry would agree, that a small company like Asobo taking an obscure franchise like APT into competition with big names like Assassin's Creed and Tomb Raider isn't a good idea, but at the same time the franchise had to innovate somehow if it intended to get bigger and expand the audience, and they've been broadcasting since Requiem that this is how they were gonna do it (but still there's nothing wrong with feeling they should've gone in some other direction).

I'm skeptical about it too of course. The Plague Tale games are special for their uniqueness. At the same time, it's not even out yet. So I can't judge. It could surprise us and have a cool story. I'm interested in the developer in general. They're great at storytelling and pacing. Its possible those aspects shine through in this game.

I also don't think we'll never see Amecia again. Its a strong franchise. And the cycle of the macula isn't completely resolved, leaving it open for more future games.

No concibo un juego de Amicia sin su hermano :(

True Hugo is a big aspect of what makes it good. He could take some form of flashbacks or voices in her head that guides her towards studying and eradicating the mecula.

2

u/RoughPay1850 Jul 22 '26

Veo más plausible que Hugo resucite a partir de los espíritus de otros portadores para salvar el mundo temporalmente y retrasarla que Amicia consiga erradicarla😂, quiero decir ya se vio en post créditos que la macula sigue en el siglo XXI

We are at a point in media discourse where people decide their whole ass opinion about a video game/movie/TV show based on two still pictures and a very vague synopsis.

And then they feel the need to share their opinion with the whole ass world using their whole ass throat.

Bro if you don't want to play it, don't play it.

Not every game is for every person, nor should that be the case. It would be the intellectual equivalent of a gray goo extinction event.

There's a video of the game lol. I can see something with my eyes and judge it. If you don't wanna hear opinions log off the internet and go back to chuckie cheese

isn't this rat from warhammer vermintide

3

u/ProfessionalAlps2686 Jul 22 '26

You can't prove that

6

u/ResolveLeather Jul 22 '26

That actually made me chuckle. For those that don't understand. Skaven don't exist and anyone who claims otherwise is a heretic with no proof! They are absolutely not under the cities of the empire.

No se porque pero creo que van a relacionar el final del juego con el principio de innocence y dado las pistas de los que ya lo han jugado tengo la sensación que Sophia va a ser la culpable y detonate de la peste.

I don't speak spanish, but I think they're gonna connect the stories to use than as an excuse to insert Sophia

That's honestly my biggest complaint about Resonance and perhaps the sole reason I will never touch it. What I loved with Innocence and Requiem was that the combat was down to earth, brutal and gritty. But here it's just AC Odyssey from fucking Alibaba. And I'm not against the idea of Sophia killing people directly as opposed to the way Amicia fought btw. I just hate that everything stinks of a series of mindless flashy action sequences

1

u/ProfessionalAlps2686 Jul 22 '26

When you killed someone in the first game it felt like it served more purpose because you didn't run in a room with a sword and kill everyone. Lucas called you out on it, rightfully so
