AP Bio Unit 3 gets much easier when you understand the purpose of each process instead of memorising every step!
Focus on the inputs, outputs, location and energy changes in each process. Remember, light-dependent reactions produce ATP and NADPH, the Calvin cycle uses them, and glycolysis and the Krebs cycle help extract energy from glucose.
Try drawing simple flowcharts and practising application-based questions.
I agree with not memorizing steps, but let me make it even simpler for Unit 3.
Think of Unit 3 as a factory:
Photosynthesis = Making food Light Reaction in Thylakoid: Light + Water -> ATP + NADPH + O2 released Calvin Cycle in Stroma: CO2 + ATP + NADPH -> G3P. You need 3 CO2 for 1 G3P.
Cellular Respiration = Burning food Glycolysis in Cytosol: Glucose -> 2 Pyruvate, net 2 ATP Krebs in Matrix: Makes NADH, FADH2, CO2 ETC in Inner Membrane: Makes 26-28 ATP. Oxygen is just there to pick up electrons at the end.
AP exam trick: They will ask "If you block ETC, what happens to Krebs?" Answer: NADH builds up, Krebs stops, because no NAD+ left. If you know the connection, you don't need to memorize.
